Great video ty for sharing. Another trick that may help in the future that many people don't know/forget about is using COLD instead of heat... Putting that sleeve in the freezer for a few hours can shrink it enough (even a fraction of a millimeter helps lots) to get that thing pressed back in.... Also bushings work even better in the freezer since they're not metal they shrink more.

Separate the ball joint with a pickle fork and you won't have to mess with that bushing! Place a floor jack under the ball joint nut after loosening, put most of the car's weight on the ball joint and wail away on the pickle fork. several good whacks is all that's needed. Nice video BTW!

Thanks for the video, this will help make the work on my wife’s car go easier! It’s nice to see the job done before going into it myself.

I just did the job on a 2011, did not mess with the suspension as the inside bolt was easy to remove.

Good video. I'll most likely be doing this on my Mazda 6 soon. Very harsh when hitting bumps and bushings are cracked.

Informative video for my exact car. Thanks!!! Thanks Ford for ditching all your cars (except Mustang), not everyone wants to drive an F150 everywhere. Never will understand their reasoning behind that move. The Fusion (with some updates/refresh) could easily compete with the Honda Accord/Toyota Camry.

Before tightin nuts preload tha spring to 15 7/8
@anthonybrett74 жыл бұрын
He said he wasn't going to torque the bolts until he had weight on the wheel, he even went into good description of why its a bad idea not to preload the spring before tightening the bolts, 15:00. He only snugged the bolts down first.

I spent a couple days trying to get those damn ball joints out of the steering knuckles. Ended up pulling the entire steering knuckle assemblies out with the lower control arms attached and installed my new control arms on a couple knuckles I got from my local junkyard for $50/piece. Well worth $100 to not have to continue hammering on those ball joints. LOL

Driver side? On the V6 do you have to lift the engine up to get the subframe bolt out from the rear center arm?
@RepairGeek5 жыл бұрын
Yes.
@realjiver24 жыл бұрын
You can get replacement boots for a fraction of what the arm costs.

I have a question. I replaced the same lower control arm. The old one was really bad (ball joint). Didn't have a problem with the steering at all. I installed the new part and the car pulls or steering pulls to the right. The steering is not where it was before .my mechanic told that I need an alignment. Any ide why?

you could have lowered the sub-frame to get that rear control arm bolt out, it's pretty easy to do.

My only real issue is that you only changed one! You should have changed all four! No self respecting Tech would only change one.
@RepairGeek5 жыл бұрын
Yep only changed what was broke, instead of ripping someone off for all 4 😂 and that's apparently a bad thing?
@inyoudeep15 жыл бұрын
@@RepairGeek No, it is called saving the customer money, and their lives! Part changer like you are why Techs get sued! You should be lock in prison for ripping people off! It is much cheaper to do the job right the first time and not have them pay it again over and over again, because you are too stupid to understand how reality works!!!
@inyoudeep15 жыл бұрын
@@RepairGeek Only changing one, knowing full well that all four need changed, as it is always known, is ripping someone off! You are a scammer and the reason people think poorly of techs.
@RepairGeek5 жыл бұрын
@@inyoudeep1 cool. Next time I get a car in for a brake job I'll change the master cylinder and all the lines as well. Then, tell the customer I'm doing them a favor by changing everything. Makes total sense.

@@RepairGeek Changing only one, is like only changing one brake pad! You know it, but are trying to justify ripping people off and endangering their lives.
