I miss this anouncer crew.. Their voices and the guys racing remind me of the good ole days of Nascar, and life.

One of the most underatted races ever forgotten in time.

I remember it like it was yesterday, the debut of that (in my opinion) hip and sleek silver Kobalt paint scheme, great racing with the Gen-4 car, and an exciting duel in the final laps.

I know it's been a year since you commented but I agree with you. This was the first race I've watched in NASCAR

This was the first race I ever went to. Didn’t remember it since I was three but great to come back and see it again

That black and silver paint gave Jimmie a thousand extra horsepower that day and other races that year. 2007 was the year Team 48 was on fire.

In terms of wins (10)you are correct, however Jeff Gordon would have won the championship under the old system. He had like an average finish for the season of 7th I believe absolutely insane consistency
@conormac9056 Жыл бұрын
Good point but remember if that old system was still used in 2007 they would’ve raced each other differently due to the different format back then so who knows it could’ve been a better chase for the champion

This was when they came out with the hd cameras. They did have HD cameras in 2006, but not many tracks had them.

This was the first ever NASCAR race I have watched. Was told in Summer of 2006 that I should be a Tony Stewart fan when my was working for Sprint and he went to the NASCAR race and got a garage pass. Finally caught on watching this and lets say I did not like Jimmie Johnson for about 7 years. lol.

Mark Martin, points leader, then doesn't show up for 2 races, wish he wasn't so stubborn
@michael5755386 жыл бұрын
Yeah, makes one wonder what would have happened. Would the team still merge with DEI later in the season? Would he have had a chance for a title? I have heard, though, that if he would have won the Daytona 500 he would have retired then and there. If that happened, I could never blame him for walking away with the points lead.
@stevorules1820 Жыл бұрын
Well if you actually followed NASCAR you'd have known he wanted to retire after 2005 but came back because Roush wanted him to so 2006 was supposed to be his last. Some drivers start retirement by only racing part time.

Underrated race. I've always thought 2007 was kinda mid compared to 2005 and 2006, mostly because the Hendrick cars were so dominant it wasn't as exciting This race was great tho, it's a shame it's not well remembered

David Reutimann spun Greg Biffle which was payback at that time for what Biffle did to Reutimann at Auto Club Speedway although made contact.
