2007 Mini Cooper S | 1.6 THP 174HP | POV Test Drive by Fanatic Drivers

This second-generation Mini Cooper S is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that puts out 174 horsepower and a maximum torque of 240 Newton meters. Thanks to its engine and lightweight the car rockets from 0 to 100 in just 7.1 seconds. Bear in mind, that's pretty quick for a small car like this. Unfortunately, the second-generation Mini Cooper S also has its downside and is known to be unreliable. The 1.6-liter turbocharged (THP) engine that Peugeot-Citroën designed with BMW is known to have problems such as really high oil consumption, timing chain problems 'death rattle', cooling system leaks, VANOS failure, and premature clutch wear.

That oil lamp at the end of video did a big jump scare on me lol We all know about the reliability of this engine. Anyone should look for 08/2010 or later for the facelifted version with the N18 engine. It has proved to be a touch better than the N14. Nonetheless, it will be close to impossible not to love this little pookie.

The n14 is actually a better engine due to lack of valve tronic and vvi. The n18 just fixes core issues around the motor. But still has most of the issues and less tunability. Tho if you aint into fixing your carvthe n18 is a more relaxed option.

@@luuk9950 You'll fix one thing, and the next thing will just break. Timing chains, fuel pumps, thermostat housings, water pumps, water pipes, coils, valve covers... It's a neverending nightmare!

I have a Audi a3 sline quattro from 2006 my brother has the mini (the same) with 174hp and I want to change with him because my audi is Diesel 😔😂 Nice car the MINI
