Jeez, how time flies. I remember coming to a truck race here when i was 3, and im about to start driving. I don't remember too much but i remember i had so much fun and it really sucks they don't race here anymore. I also loved going to Illiana which was a bit smaller than this track and they closed that a few years back, of course its probably been a lot longer than that. Thanks for posting this so that i can fully remember what this track looks like.

I went to this race and its crazy how long its been. I really miss this race and i wish NASCAR never took it off. I went to an ARCA race last year and seeing what happened to this track appalled me. They took out the stands in 3 and 4 and all the sponsors on the front stretch are gone except Lucas Oil and the place has gone to waste and it upsets me because I went to this track growing up watching the USAC races and XFinity and even a truck race. Now it's just another track abandoned by NASCAR and left to rot. Fuck NASCAR and fuck Brian France for leaving this place for IMS. I love IMS but I went to the XFinity races last year and they are shit compared to this!

+Noah Carmichael You are 1/2 right about the stands in 3 and 4... Those stands were always portable and were brought in for Kroger Speedfest, and then taken back down before the U.S. Nationals over on the drag strip. Facility wise, its still one of the nicest short tracks in America, but its just really hard to put on basically AAA ball in a Major League sports town. I worked out at that place for the last several years for a few different sanctioning bodies and overall the place is plagued by the problem now of pulling a crowd on the oval. Which is a shame, because as I said... It is still one of the nicest tracks facility wise in the country.

+Michael McIntyre oh yea, i remember seeing those stands and how they were never put in the ground so i see what you mean. But still, from attending some of the Busch races and some of the Truck races. It never seemed to hard to fill the stands at ORP. I mean from what I see on TV and in person, the stands were filled all around the track and the hill was filled as much as it could get. So it doesn't seem right that they can't fill them?... Plus I would love to see NASCAR bring XFinity back, but to be honest I'd be just fine with them bringing back Trucks. Those poor guys have little to no races and I think bringing back ORP would be a great addition, just take Eldora, move it back a week and add ORP because their right next to each other. Hell, I'd be fine with K&N Pro Series being added. I just don't wanna go back to ORP in like 10 years and see the place go to waste like other tracks that were as great as it currently is.

+Noah Carmichael Too many logistics right now that will hamper that from happening.

This track is undergoing 10 million dollar renovation. Maybe thats a sign NASCAR is planning a return there after 2020 since attendance is quickly dropping at IMS.

I honestly do not know what NASCAR was thinking moving the Xfinity Series from now Lucas Oil Raceway to IMS in 2012

@@josephbettano2569 It was actually 2011. When the COT raced at the track, the management announced they would not return the truck series and the xfinity series (at the time nationwide) to the track, so the truck race was moved to eldora (the first dirt race since 1970), and the nationwide series to move to the famous Indianapolis motor speedway. The arca race replaced it. The truck series did not return until last year. While the xfinity race is still held at IMS.

I was 11 at the time! I stayed up to watch this race! One of the best Xfinity races I ever watched! Why NASCAR could not keep the good times rolling by leaving this track on the schedule I will never know! The Xfinity race at IMS is complete and utter crap in every way! It will never measure up to the standard this track set for an Xfinity race! I miss this track and really hope NASCAR will revive this race! They moved the Xfinity race to IMS to boost sagging attendance for the Brickyard 400! Yes, attendance for the Brickyard 400 has declined, but the answer to the race's declining attendance is obviously not a lousy support race like what it has been because attendance has still continued to decline until 2016, when only 50,000 showed up to the Brickyard 400! It's sad we don't even have a Truck race at this track! The Trucks wanted to return, but they said no because they felt the track could not be profitable off a Truck race alone! Unless the Xfinity Series either returns to this track or leaves the Indianapolis market, I will continue to enjoy the ARCA race this track has! It's about all that's left of this track!

Good fucking times! Before you could literally put money on Kyle Busch, Logano, Keselowski winning. Now its shocking if one of those 3 doesn't win. The series is a joke now.
