2007 Saturn Sky Review

When you first jump in and turn the key - no doubt still smitten with its looks - the Sky seems to be just fine. It makes a grumbling exhaust note. It's rear-wheel drive. The 2.4-liter Ecotec DOHC inline-4 revs pretty high and pushes pretty quick. Above all, everyone seems to be looking at you, which makes up for a lot in Southern California.

I have a 2006 Solstice. I think the gearbox is just perfect -it doesn’t even need a sixth gear, plenty of power in each gear and fifth gear is good for overdrive. Taking the top on and off is a piece of cake

Beautiful design and the Redline is a GM classic in the making. If you are fortunate enough to own one, take care of it and enjoy the ride.

Since I have a regular 2.2 03 Ion this cars really getting my attention as a cheap alternative to go fast 2.0T redline is a fun ride I've seen these cars take off its like wow not only does this car have looks but also fun power I'll be proud to own 2 saturns

The base Sky was never intended to go fast, just look awesome. Of you want to go fast get the Sky Redline. And if you wasn't to go faster get the GMPP tune and kick it to 300/300 for little $. People want to knock the sky and use BASE Sky numb3rs to do it. Get one ,fall in love. And you'll see that it is a great little ride for the money. As a side note. I have a base Sky. With 88000 miles on it. The only thing that had been replaced our fixed is the thermostat. And I turbocharged it for under $3500 to outrun a Redline. And alot of other sportscars. Great little car.

I purchased the Hahn Stage II kit from Hahn Racecraft...yeah I installed it on the Saturn Sky (base model) went from 177 hp to 285 hp...150rwhp to 240rwhp...definitely worth the money....it's my daily driver and I didn't lose any stock driveability the turbo charger is set to 9 lbs and is just great on this car...

Replace the rods and can up the boost top ~350 hp...rods and pistons and valve springs upgraded injectors and a high pressures fuel pump and this thing will bang ~420 before you need to get into the trans and rear end... but that's pushing it...lol

***** although the upgraded suspension isn't on the base model...it handles really well. You can find all of the suspension upgrades at DDM for the Base Sky.

***** and if you're not on a track frequently you don't need it. The Base Sky handles pretty damn well...the springs and bilsteins from the factory are an upgrade from other stock components on this car

@MangoSmoothie16 Actually, the regular M3 is just as fast as the M3. Check out MotorTrend's review, in which the Mustang GT and M3 posted identical times (less than a tenth of a second difference). Anyway, the Boss LS still costs less than an M3, and it's performance is so groundbreaking, that you'd have to be completely ignorant to call it a pony car; it pulls 0.01 g more than a Ferrari 458 Italia on a skidpad. Also, BMW's model range scores "below average" in quality, while Ford is #1.

@marshknute German cars require more maintenance more often than ohter cars and the process is often more difficult. My mom's 2006 Sonata is truly a piece of shit. The trim on the windows didnt line up from the factory, one of the headlights is already fogging up, it's had to go into the shop for mechanical issues twice. My dads 2006 Tundra is a great. Japanese make good stuff bit it's starting to rust already. My dad also has a Porsche 944S. Great car if you maintain it. I have a 2011 mazda 3i

@MangoSmoothie16 America caught up decades ago and Germany still hasn't caught up. You are comparing a $50K car (adjusted for inflation) to a $20K car. Nowadays, you can get a 415 hp Mustang for $30K, while BMW can only give you a 230 hp 1-series for that price. That is the same Mustang that lapped Laguna Seca faster than an M3 and Audi R8 V10 (German cars which cost 2x and 5x as much respectively).

@marshknute Maybe Ford has caught up. That was one track though. Do you know how they stack up on the nurburgring? I'd still like an E46 M3 over anything. I also bet that in the quality score, its based on price. BMW's are WAY overpriced. I still think they are better quality than a Mustang though.

@marshknute Just because its "faster" doesnt mean its better. Youre also talking about the Mustang Boss Leguna Seca. The GT is slower than the M3... Plus the M3 is a sport luxary car. Mustang is a pony car. The only American car I'm impressed by is the CTS-V

I drove one of these for a while, it was an automatic. I deffinantly got the looks but got my ass whooped in 99% of races but it's still fun for a slow sportster. One day when I was driving I was fooling with the shifter while driving and the shift linkage busted and the car went into park at about 50 mph... that sure wasn't pretty

I have a 1987 porsche 944S that has a 2.5 liter 4 cyl. It makes 180 hp. more than the solstice/sky and it doesnt have variable valve timing. It also has 4 wheel disc. I know for a fact it handles better. its been 24 years and america STILL hasnt totally caught up to germany.
