Toyota highlander between 2005 to 2007 was the best. Period.

This is better looking that both the second & current third generation in my opinion. I always loved the styling of these vehicles. My friend drives a 2007 Highlander, but his is black and has the 4-cylinder. Rides very smoothly & the 4-cylinder is pretty smooth & fairly quiet. His parents used to drive a 2002 Highlander, then a 2007 4Runner & now a 2015 Highlander.
@winomaster8 жыл бұрын
I agree on the styling. What makes this and other Toyotas ride so well is that they use suspension subframes to avoid the transmission of harshness. This is something I thing GM started. Currently, the Ford edge and Lincoln MKX also uses this engineering. Don't know for sure if Toyoda continues to use this on the latest generation.

While this generation of Highlander may have been bland in its driving dynamics and styling, it is still worth a look for anyone looking for an inexpensive, comfortable, well-built, and long-lasting midsized SUV! (:

My alternator went out on my 2007 Highlander Sport, which is the only thing I had to replace in the engine, so I also replaced the belts. When I start the car very fast the belts squeal. This also happens when I start the AC right away. I checked on KZbin & it is a common occurance when you change the alternator. I put the key in the ignation, let the seatbelt chime play out & start the SUV so not squeak. It has something to do with the electrical relay. Anyone else has this going on on your older Toyota? I also have a 2019 Camry SE & they are the best I have ever had in my 55 years of driving.

@@Cobhc2024completely agree. I'm only comfortable buying Toyotas with that kind of mileage. I just bought an 04 Sequoia with 195k miles on it for 5k and didn't think twice about it. This reminds me a lot of my Lexus rx300 I had. With proper care on a Toyota it'll easily push you to 300-500k miles. Got a 96 Tacoma and 01 tundra both approaching 300k

Using a 2005 v6 blue highlander for work everyday and love it! Very comfortable smooth ride. My only complaints are the rims are really rusted and at highway speeds the windshield or roof rack are very noisy. I could literally buy any kind of tires and know that the wind noise will cancel out tire noise Haha anybody else have problems with wind noise?

Would a 2007 Highlander be a good first vehicle for a teen driver? I am looking at one today with only 64k. It is a base model with value pkg and AWD. I need something reliable and safe.
@kugelweg3 жыл бұрын
I am not a teen driver, but I LOVED my 2007 Highlander. She was sturdy, reliable, and had decent gas mileage for the weight of the car and having a v6 engine. I lost my Highlander a year ago and miss her still. She was rugged, yet looked stylish. She wasn't so expensive or fancy that I felt I needed to be TOO careful inside of her. She had some room inside her and could store a lot of goods. The only issue, and not a big one, is the fact the car could possibly turn over/roll if driven around curves too quickly, owing to the way she was built. I highly recommend this great model for ANYONE!

This is a really late response and I assume you’ve already purchased a vehicle, so I’ll just leave this here in case anyone else has the same question: I’m 16 years old and have been driving my father’s 2005 Highlander for around a year now. It’s a great first car and is easy to handle, and I’ve personally had a much easier time driving this car compared to the sedans that my driving instructors used. Driving an SUV in general gives you a much better view of your surroundings, which can be really helpful for new drivers. My family has driven this car almost daily for nearly 2 decades, and while repairs have been necessary at times (we’ve had issues with the locking mechanism and catalytic converter before), it’s a very sturdy car overall which runs great to this day. The car is comfortable, safe, fun, and easy to handle. Plenty of space in the interior too, it’s a car that’s built to last and excel in every purpose. As the previous commenter mentioned though, watch your speed when driving around curves. Braking and accelerating also doesn’t feel as smooth as with other cars that I’ve driven, although I’d owe that to the age of the car, as the other cars I’m comparing it to are more modern sedans. Overall, you can’t go wrong with a Highlander as a starter car.

You're quick to judge negatively on the first generation Navi systems as being "scrunchy" but yet, you praise its size as being the best in class for 2007. I don't get your reviews!! You talk like you're putting down design & technology that still suit many people, especially, those who are much older than you. FYI... Navigation systems from 10 years ago are still quite superb, despite your millennial perspective. they're not scrunchy...they work just fine! (Just stop making reviews unless you have an unbiased approach, okay!)
