2007 V Star 650 Final drive assembly. Bad bearing and seal leaking. Metal in the gear oil

Bought me a bike lift from my cousin last week for $10 needs a small jack. I've done head gaskets in cars, hopefully I'll tackle this too. Just leaking seals. Thanks for the information. You sure did get lucky. Nice work on deducing your problems 😎👉🏻

So you were leaking oil? What was your oil like when u drained. Somewhat clear or discoloured. I’m having issues of discoloured oil which I have to look into this week. No other symptoms.

To do just the oil seal do you have to pull the tire and the whole drive gear? Or can you just pull the shaft and r&r seal. Mines leaking also dont believe its the bearing didtn see any metal..

You will need to move the wheel back far enough to remove the shaft from the splines on the front. Then you can just change the seal. If you go that far i would regrease everything while your right there.

hello i have a stupid question. when do you put the seal in before you screw back the part is the bearing.
