What's with SM giving these dope solo songs to aespa members to perform, and not actually releasing them?

It's a marketing strategy. They did this with "salty and sweet" and lots of other songs in the MYWORLD mini album where they performed songs at their concerts on that album before the album was released. So you're paying for an 'early access' to aespa songs at the concerts and it makes fans really want to buy tickets (I believe that these days concerts are the real money maker for music in general). It's also generating a lot of hype for the next album so it's really two birds with one stone.

@@Eag123eag as another user pointed out, Karina wasn't singing live for her solo performance. To keep it simple, the girls performed the first half of their concert with a backtrack but sang live for the 2nd half, after they had their 2nd wardrobe change :)
