Thanks. Good overview. 3.5 hours to extract the lower sway bar link from the sway bar. Toyota original links had nothing from behind to use as a counterhold - only a rotted out (unusable) hex recess in the threaded shaft. I needed to grind off the lower nut, but I definitely need a better grinder. KYB gave me different torque specs: top nuts: 52 lb ft, bottom nuts: 63 lb ft. Moog specified 55 lb ft for the sway bar links. Another tip: remove the wipers and plenum before jacking up the SUV. Makes things easier to reach.

Excellent video and so helpful. Thanks for putting it together. I found that cleaning the tie rod bolt and nut before trying to move it helped a ton and when it wouldn't budge I used an allen wrench in the front to hold it while I took the nut off.

Is it recommended to change the sway bar link?
@ValleyMobileAutomotive2 ай бұрын
@@airasaludsevidal7002 typically you only need to change the links if they are bad or if you can't remove the nut. But if you want to go ahead and replace them anyway that could save you a headache 👍

When you say both sides jacked up at the same time what do you mean ? You mean jacked from center ?
@ValleyMobileAutomotive7 ай бұрын
Using jack stands, lift one side and place the jack stand under it. Then Jack the other side up and put another stand under it so both sides are off the ground. I'm not sure you can lift both sides from the center.

Well done. Thanks for sharing. Do you recommend replacing all sway bar with the job. Also, can you believe that Goodyear quoted me $3,800 to replace all four struts. I just bought Monroe struts from RockAuto for $500.

An alignment never hurts. If you plan on keeping the car for a long time I recommend asking if they offer a lifetime alignment. It will cost a little more upfront but it's worth it 👍

@@jamesdeguzman9335 You can reuse your original springs. You'll need to disassemble the strut with a special tool. You might be able to rent it from the auto parts store.

Why don’t you grease the bolts as you put them back on ?
@ValleyMobileAutomotive9 ай бұрын
Good question. You should never grease bolts unless the manual specifically instructs you to. A lubricated bolt will have a higher clamping force than a non lubricated bolt. If it's not designed to be lubricated you can add stress to the bolt and other components.
