Yep, the 3LZ interior is very, very nice. All leather with excellent fit, finish, and quality. Comparable to any $100,000 sports car. The 3LZ interior was first available in the 2008 model. It is interesting to note that many people get their panties in a wad when they thing something is made of plastic. FRP means "Fiber Reinforced Polymer". So we certainly wouldn't want FRP's in our vehicles, right? Of course that means doing without Carbon Fiber and Boron Fiber which are FRP's!

The new updated viper has 600 hp and only does the quarter mile .1 second faster than the 100 hp less z06. Also, the z06 won the Car and Driver competition with the '08 viper.

if your able to drive a manual well, go with the manual, personally, ive gotten so used to driving with automatic cars i would actually see driving a manual car everyday would be a nuisance, but thats just me if your getting a corvette automatic, get one 2006 and afterwards, they come with a 6 speed with paddle shifters, if you go with before a 2006, you'll get an awful 4 speed

Just bought a low milage 07 Z06, what a bad ass car! Faster and much better gas milage than my 02 911 Turbo even with 10k worth of up grades. I miss the the AWD and ease of exiting and entering, I'm tall. The clutch and the stick on the Z06 are so easy, that it doesn't bother me in heavy traffic. How can you argue with a 505hp car that gets nearly 30mph on the highway, and can easily be upgraded to 600hp and retain the same milage.

@thevettedude66 some American cars are reliable, but those are in the minority. Older trucks, corvettes, and mustangs all use iron-cast small block engines that are high displacement gas guzzlers, an ancient and cheap technology that helped maintain reliability when it came to the engine. Construction quality on other parts of the car are very shoddy though. Loose body panels, rust, electrical problems, harsh automatic transmission, all major problems for cars from the Big Three until recently.

@thevettedude66 The Z06 does use aluminum for its basic frame, but it still has a lot of plastic parts. Front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and exterior door panels, are still plastic, and that's >50% of the exterior panels. You can tell when the exterior trim is made of plastic because Corvette doors (even the Z06) reverberate when you shut them. 'Vettes also have a very bad engine, why does its 7.0L V8 produce just 505 bhp? Even a Mustang can do better, the GT500 produce 540 bhp w/ a 5.4LV8.

@thevettedude66 I seriously doubt that your friend could have driven a corvette over 150k without replacing major engine components (cylinder heads, water pump, fuel injector, alternator, etc), maybe you should ask him. They use fiberglass in drag racers because they only need to race in a straight line. Fiberglass is strong when exposed to heat and compression, but like any glass, it's brittle and cracks easily when subject to torsion forces, such as during a hard turn (Material Science 101)

It's not about speed. Viper will always get more looks, because it's rare = it's more exotic. Im not gonna talk about looks, it's up to ones taste, but that said Corvette is like a cheap copy of ferrari while Viper is original design...

Corvettes are very cheap because they are made of...plastic. Most of the exterior trim is plastic bolted onto a steel frame, and this cheap material is why it costs a lot less than European sports cars, most of which have a more durable (and expensive) aluminum chassis. Plastic fades and cracks though, and this poor build quality becomes evident with age. Oh well, you get what you paid for! Few Corvettes look very good after a few years on the road because of the flimsy plastic it's made of.
