I own a 2008 hyundai elantra, and I've been having tire issues so i brought it into my local Firestone and they diagnosed me with : - failing front wheel struts (left and right) -failing rear shocks (left and right) -failing front sway bar (left and right) -recommended mileage maintenance for my spark plugs and they wanted $2400 for all the work. For context I'm in Dallas, Tx, so you know not LA or NY pricing. I was really dejected and upset about the cost and was about to go shop around other repair shops to see what better deal i could get. I figured i could get the parts myself and try and find someone willing to do the labor for around $1,000. BUT then i found your videos, insanely high quality, very descriptive and now I've gone and found all the parts online for less than $400 and i expect it'll take me an afternoon at my friends house using her jack and tools to get everything repaired. You are doing awesome work making these videos and you personally saved me a small fortune by giving me the knowledge and confidence to do it myself. Thanks so much! On a side note: Where are you located? your car has alot of rust on it that mine doesn't at similar mileage. But instead of rust damage, my car has all the plastic parts breaking off from the Texas heat.

Great video! I have a 2008 elantra myself and will definitely be watching all of your guides on it! Any tips on improving the performance of the vehicle?

Really appriciate your videos...I own a 2008 Elantra, but in my country they call it Avante X20...a very reliable 15 year old car...I usualy outsource the parts and ask my mechanic to fix it...cost effective.

Nice detailed video I would say you can skip the anti seize/dielectric grease as those plugs already have an anti seizing plating on them and any sort of lube or anti-seize will change your torque spec opposed to if you didn't put any on.
@InsaneOil11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated. I understand your thoughts on applying anti-seize to the threads, however, the repair manual specifies the application of anti-seize to the threads before installation.

For those of you who are confused on Torque specs 168 inch lbs is approximately 14 ft lbs just so you know. Don’t go over tightening your spark plus to 168 FT lbs and if you don’t know how to tell the difference maybe leave the work to a professional.
@InsaneOil2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I would also add that many consumer torque wrenches start at 10-15 ft lbs and sometimes when you are at the lowest torque setting on the wrench there can be slight variations in the accuracy.
@HeydaCarreras15 күн бұрын
Sorry, but mine 2008 Elantra is 15-22 ft lb. how about that? I put 20 ft lb, nothing happened. Please don't scare people.
@orlandogbuckets122715 күн бұрын
@ never tried scaring anyone. You might not see anything with naked eye but you possibly could be over tightening and ruining the threads. Fyi
