Doing the infamous oil cooler seal replacement job now, on an '07 E320, 151, 000 miles. Went ahead and replaced the serpentine belt, rollers, idler and the turbo cartridge. Fortunately, my swirl flap motor and plastic swirl rails are in really good shape. The consensus is that the turbo EGR hose placed right at the turbo inlet is a bad MB design as it sucks in way too much oil with the vapors that drip down into the swirl flap motor power connector AS WELL AS creating the particulate buildup in the intake manifold and EGR system. The corrected fabrication is to rerouted the EGR hose to a Mann-Provent-style oil catch-can installed near the radiator that vents into the passenger-side air filter housing in front of the filter This should fix the problem of the carbon build-up in the EGR system and the intake manifold/heads/swirl flaps. Another option is to delete the swirl flap motor along with the rails and swirl flap valves and install a resister in the connector to fool the car's computer. There are a lot of videos on youtube showing how this can be down.

Not famous, INFAMOUS! The only way to keep the swirl motor from malfunctioning is to remove it and insert a resister to trick the computer into thinking it’s still there.
@vintagehaynesflute6 жыл бұрын
Remove the intake, have it cleaned and then have the flaps completely removed.
@Sea2Skyward5 жыл бұрын
vintagehaynesflute don’t the flaps default to stay fully open when you put the resistor in?
@vintagehaynesflute5 жыл бұрын
Iworkupnorth.com yes but if the flaps are still there the intake will still clog up with soot and carbon

Good listening. I agree why didn’t jeep fit a serviceable filter for the egr system. Chrysler had it’s ups and downs. But Jeep is an American icon. Like Land Rover/Range Rover is in Great Britain.🏴🇺🇸🇬🇧

I use Biodiesel which cleans better and the Diesel fuel in general is an American fuel thus do not need imported fuels.

I had this happen to my Jeep, it was motor out service to fix which cost a fortune, then no end of problems after it caused by useless Jeep stealership mechanics. No wonder Jeep have a terrible reputation in Australia, no one wants them. Sales plummeted from a peak around 2013 to a trickle now, as Australia realised that the dealers were useless and a rip-off. I now service it myself, and its never been more reliable....many times I've thought about just setting fire to the junk heap and calling it day.

7:00 if egr is cooling intake u have some issues lol Also nitrogen dioxide is harmful because its an oxidizer that's the dioxide part u dont want to breathe that in I promise But that being said thos two oxygen atoms dont like being trapped and they love to trade atoms with just about anything like your steel in the exhaust causing it to rust That being said its plant food not human food ok

@@thomascooley2749 EGR cools combustion temps, not intake temps, dipshit. Nitrogen dioxide is stable, Nitrogen monoxide is not (is a free radical). You clearly know fuck all. This is high school chemistry.

all these emissions "solutions" harm the engine and empty the wallet of the owners and hurt fuel mileage. Manufacturers need a better solution to the problem than this.

None. Still will have soot, your valves will be next. Removing EGR is the solution.
@cactus8092 жыл бұрын
@@lavrentievv The soot isn't because you have EGR. It's due to oil vapors from the idiotically constructed PCV, which, being mixed with the exhaust gases from the EGR valve result in what we saw.
@lavrentievv2 жыл бұрын
@@cactus809 It's coz of both. More hydrocabons and less oxygen both contribute to incomplete combustion/soot.
