No, I havent yet sold my present C230 Kompressor which has already run over 300,000 Kms with me since it was bought brand-new. I had ordered a new E250 Avantgarde in June but was told by the dealer that it was scheduled for production in September and expected to be delivered in November. This new E Class is to replace my existing C Class which is now having more troubles than I can tolerate after its long and loyal service of 12 years!

one thing i like that other companies like audi are doing, is on the gear selector; for the automatics they keep that leather skirt around the shifter, which makes it look more like a manual. one reason i never like automatics is the shifter always looks really cheap in comparison to manuals.

The CTS does not compete with the C-Class. The C-Class is a compact car, while the CTS is bigger, usually considered a midsize car. You would think the CTS is compact, but really its competitors include the Acura TL, Infiniti G, Lincoln MKZ, and Lexus ES ($30,000-$35,000 midsize luxury cars).

FYI, since 2007 Mercedes-Benz is produced by Daimler AG and not DaimlerChrysler. So I don't see any Chrysler DNA in the C-class. Try to catch up on update information before writing.

we have a cts and it may be in that sector, but the way they designed the car makes it feel very compact...

The C-Class does have a diesel version. However, if the C-Class isn't as sporty as its competitors, then the diesel version must be even LESS sporty than the C-Class. I wouldn't consider the diesel a competent competitor to the BMW 328i, Audi A4, and Lexus IS250. But the diesel is good for those who want to be a little more environmental.

The new C class started to sell in 2007. JD POWER only offers reliability ratings on 3 year old cars and that would be 2005 model. ADAC gives the new C class the highest rating in entry level category.

@shred5 Although everyone does have their own opinion, I tested 3 of those 5, the A4, the Infiniti and the BMW 3, and if only the c300 had more hp (like about, 275 instead of 228) it would be perfect. If you want power, you would go with the other 3 (despite the 211 hp A4, it is turbo charged). If you want everything else, the c300 is it.

This this top of the line beyond the "Black Series" Mercedes lines. You can tell it by the luxurious interiors found only on the "C" Class. It tells the world; that you are rich and powerful because you drive a "C" Class car!

Standard features include air conditioning w/dual-zone climate controls, tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls, cruise control, interior air filter, 8-way power front seats, power sunroof, and outside-temperature indicator.

@Waffleater1 Yes, this one has a "black in black" interior, thats a little boring! But remember there are like 100 - or more - different interior combinations with, Aluminium, several wood species, carbon fibre, dark or light colours etc etc. In my country almost every taxi is either a C or E class, which is nice cause you get to compare the different versions and enjoy a great ride!

i test drove C350 and hyundai genesis back to back. C350 still has a more solid feel/more sturdy. genesis is just more features/better on paper. Depends what you want the stats or the feeling

Agreed, but the reason he is comparing it to Lexus is that Lexus sells the most vehicles in the class. IMO, other than the LS series, they're more upscale cars but they're still the most reliable in the class and have a reputation for having a good dealer experience, which keeps bringing customers back. On the flip side, most of their customers are 70+ years old and in 10-20 years they will be forced to reinvent themselves once their customer base dies off. The rest of them are soccer moms.

I was debating whether to get the C class or the BMW 328i. I ended up getting the 328i. IMO, the 328i looks better both inside and out. I prefer the handling and that road gripping quality ride of the 328i as well. I think I made the right choice, but I don't think I'd regret it if I decided on the C class as well. I already had the C class before, so it's kinda nice to try a Bimmer, and so far, I'm loving it

i think you did the right thing how was your ownership of the BMW ? when the new C class came out people were NOT happy with the design i remember the same reaction with the SL a MAJOR design change

The XC90 is a completly child proof car, plus since it's been on the market for so long it has few if any reliability issues and if you watch the rollover videos on youtube the roof doesn't bend at all, it passed the test by more than 100% The Volvo's controlls are very easy to use and the sound system is the best. (The Dynaudio one) It's also very capeable off road. But mabey the newer XC60 might be nicer, if you don't need 7 seats.

lol you should be captain of the debate team as much as it feels compact, it is a midsize luxury car i actually stepped into a 2003 lexus gs, and it didn't seem any bigger than the 2008 cadillac cts

The C63 is a beautiful BEAST! 451HP V8, but I hear it's gas mileage is comparable to a full size SUV.

The Cadillac CTS doesn't compete with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but I completely agree with you. I'd rather have a CTS than a C300, and I'd MUCH rather have a CTS-V than a C63 AMG.

The Mercedes Benz C Class comes standard with dual zone automatic climate control. You can't beat a Mercedes.

CTS-V isn't cheaper, but yes, it's a lot faster thanks to its supercharger which tends to go wrong all the time. Sport sedans should have naturally aspirated power if you ask me.

I'm about 6 feet 2 inches so mabey, Mercedes always felt cramped to me. I also think the seats are a bit hard so I love Volvo seats and I don't like the engine lag, my uncle has an E-class and it takes a second or so for the engine to react. The car's rear seats gave me and my brother back aches and we are not the people who complain for any little thing. On my uncle's Mercedes the engine starter is screwed up and the check engine light is always on even though he has taken it to a repair shop.

What's your point, they still don't make good cars. They apparently invent things but other cars perfect them and they out class Mercedes. Like the C240, they were limited to 99.5mph because the drivetrain couldn't handle more speed.

The Genesis has better options, room... basically looks much better on paper. However talk to a mechanic who has worked on one before looking at one. I have read about numerous reports about people driving the Genesis off the lot and having the transmission blow - something extremely common with Hyundais in general. Mercedes aren't particularly reliable either, but I guarantee you if you remotely take care of it, you'll at least get 100k out of one.

It get good mpgs but because of that it's horrible everywhere else. No space, too cramped. But it was the Volvo XC60 that won in the international truck of the year. Plus, Mercedes didn't invent Airbags. And They don't use half of the safety equipment of a Volvo. Stop saying stuff that isn't true and accept that Mrecedes suck. And what about Mercedes with the A-class? They can't build a car that won't fall over at 30mph, so they took it off the production line.

C-class, or another option may be the Infiniti G37 sedan. Don't buy the Es350, it states I'm retired and i have left over money. Lexus resembles to much of Toyota for the money your paying for, unless your willing to buy a Lexus Gs or Ls which actually represents the Lexus brand very well. Mercedes is a beautiful car as is Infiniti. They both state luxury and success, and cost exactly the same. MSRP starting at - $33,600.

Well, they recall things early and no one has died have they? I have known about them, there is a thing called swedespeed and I check that everyday, they post things like that. Just because I didn't mention it doesn't mean that I don't know about it. And about safety, how come Volvo invented the 3-point seat belt but Mercedes as late as 1967 didn't used them, wow they must be good cars!

It is SEXY and very efficient on gas mileage. runs 26 in city and 39 in highway. and I decide to pay it off because my credit score is so poor that my interest % will go up to 13%.... so damn high that's why i prefer to pay it off :) What kind of car do you drive sir?

I bought a 2008 Mercedes C class but then I returned it 2 days later after I brought it to a Mercedes dealer for a inspection. The car has so many problems that were needed to be fixed. The Mercedes's mechanic shop asked for $3000 to fix everything.

BS, the leather isent optional it comes in c class, the only c class tht had leather seats as option were the C230 coupe models the 2 doors ones, they had the fabric or leather option. But any other models above the coupe were coming with leather from the factory, the only option u have is 2 kind of leather the imitation leather or the premium real leather. lol the guys should get informed, more before doing a review :P

I know that every auto maker has recalls. Yes Lexus has stopped production of one thing but they have already been fixing that. My favorite isn't Lexus but I still prefer them to Mercedes. And still they are better. Just like every other car except for GM and Chrysler products, like Mercedes.

Stop bullshiting about reliability. This is a new C class, it hasn't been around long enough, but it's the first car after a long time that Mercedes actually tested in a long run so I expect it blow it nearly everything away in terms of reliability, especially the rubbish from GM.

I would agree with you about the 3 series....but I think the interior is one of the worst I've ever seen. I couldn't stand to be in one for several hours a day. I'm just looking for safety and a little luxury. Besides...I can get a CPO for 22k, so....it's either this or a Mazda, Honda, or Hyundai and I'd frankly rather not.

These things remind me of the Cadillac Catera or Cimmaron... not what I would expect from a Mercedes.... The Cadillac CTS or BMW 3 series is a much, much nicer car. So is the Infiniti G37, Audi A4, Acura TL, and even the Hyundai Genesis disregarding the fact that it's a Hyundai and it's reliability rating is bad even for a Hyundai.
