That cable that you grabbed and say it's for a side airbag is actually a stereo wiring output for a subwoofer. Some of this cars were sold with surround system and under the drivers seat there was a compact woofer and on the windshield vent on each side there was a set of twitters. Most of this cars didn't have that but just the 2 crappy paper speakers. I am doing a sound upgrade to my car and was planning to remove the seat looking for that cable 😅😅😅. The cables are wired and live they just don't have the components attached to them but they're not that expensive now days

That’s excellent to know and sounds like a great upgrade and improvement on the original set up.

What color is the wire?
@viralbull808510 ай бұрын
@@SaintJohn. there is 5 cables going to a single harness, 2 brown (ground) 2 white if i remember (positive) and one red (12v) the brown and white you can hook up 2 speakers that i already have one hooked and planning to put another one. that speaker i put it in the back, makes a huge difference in sound quality inside the car, you just need to figure where to home the speaker in the back, either make a hole in the panel or 3d print a holder, i am planning to do a combination of making a small hole in the back panels of each side and 3d print a holder for the speaker and put them on each side close to my ears but not too close. the 12v positive you can use as accesory i am planning to hook a usb cigarret type hook up for phones and put it in the drive shift colum close to the led shift signs. or you can buy a smart for 2 sub original and hook it under the seat and have a sub under. i don't know about that i rather have 2 extra speakers maybe the sub is better

@@SaintJohn. i just rewatch the video, is not white wires they are the green ones, doest really matters you will know if you hook the speakers backwards, but the red is 12 volts and will blow your speaker if you hook to them. but is a 5 wire harness that is just dangling under the driver seat, get it through a hole in the mat and maybe splice it. i might do a video about it maybe

Great video, I've just picked up a 2008 ForTwo and the seats require a good clean so shall get them out, cheers!

Great video. As always I feel like I can do the task after your explanations. For American 451 owners however, there are some differences. We don't have the little spacers, only a stamped metal bracket with a 15mm nut for the seat bolt. You'll need a 15mm wrench to hold it. You won't need a 17mm wrench however, since our seat belts are attached to the car body, not the seat. Unfortunately, removing the seat does not enable removal of the carpet. My 2013 smart ED has a large black box beneath the seat, with many wires and screws holding it down to the carpet. I did, however, finally gain access to that annoying seat belt buzzer wire so I could short it out.

Thank you. Yes it seems there are a few differences on non-European vehicles. I guess it’s to accommodate various regulations that certain states impose. Emissions control components have been different for years but the seat/seat belt differences are strange.

Nicely done. My Smart car has heated seats so I imagine that the wiring that you found that was not connected to anything was probably installed in case they added heated seats at the dealership.

Good Video, I have recently bought the same car ( but in Banana yellow lol) my carpets are filthy , the foot rest next to the brake is caked in mud and the seats are filthy , I tried vacuuming it and hitting the mesh type material on the seats caused clouds of dust , i did it several times , after a few days dust is in the seams of the base again ... I think they might need jet washing of buy some leather seats lol

my driver's seat is locked all the way back. there is no access to the screws. maybe you have an idea how to do it
@autoknight7478 ай бұрын
Probably best to resolve the seat issue first to facilitate access to the rear bolts. It’s not an overly complex mechanism (although lots of sharp things under there) and one of the most common reasons for seats jamming is a coin having fallen in there.
@Howster69 Жыл бұрын
How much room is there behind the seat as in the rear footwell. With the seat pushed back.
@autoknight747 Жыл бұрын
Not much at all! Being quite a leggy creature, I have the seat all the way back.

Can you remove the spacers altogether to slightly lower the front of the seat? Shorter bolts or spacer on top to avoid any issues?
@autoknight747 Жыл бұрын
I have heard of people doing this but I can’t vouch for whether it is a good thing to do. I’m probably a bit boring for saying this but I try to keep things standard where possible, as millions were spent designing it a certain way which is likely optimal and for a good reason!

Hi again, I have forgot to discennect the battery, so i have this ECS failure. Is it posible to reset it without going to the Smart dealer. Its a stupid failure but never than less my lamp for the airbag is on. is there an easy fix......
@autoknight74710 ай бұрын
It would be best to plug the vehicle into suitable diagnostic equipment and scan/ reset and fault codes. Some say that you can disconnect the battery and leave for a time before reconnecting but it’s not something I’ve ever tried so cannot verify.
