www.banjomart.... to see this mandolin
This is a beautiful mandolin made by Eiichi Sumi in Japan. It's a S-F5 deluxe (varnished). The serial number is 12770 and according to the inspection tag in the case, it is a 2008. This mandolin is old stock that was never sold to a customer. The protective film is still on the elegantly hand-engraved tailpiece. This piece is a time capsule and by one of the most sought after mandolin makes out there. The tone is deep and resonate and this mandolin has a lot of power and clarity, as you might expect from an instrument of this make and vintage. There isn’t a scratch or blemish on this mandolin and was left over from a since retired instrument dealer. This mandolin is almost 17 years old and is ready for its first owner!
This mandolin comes with the original Sumi case and protective cloth for protecting the instrument as well as for wiping it down after playing.
Accept for a very minor ebony crack in the headstock (not at all structural) above the 5th machine, which is visible in one of the photographs, this mandolin is perfect.
The finish, and subsequently the color on the binding, have aged beautifully and this mandolin is ready to be broke in by its first owner. It sounds great even after laying dormant for all of these years, so imagine what it will sound like with regular playing!
