This is the best round of golf I've ever seen! For Both, Tiger with a bum leg, Rocco as a massive underdog! As a Tiger fan I would have loved to see Rocco win this one, he had many chances, I think he just got tired!

Strategy.. Tiger slowed his individual play down tremendously in the heat for the last 4 holes- down 1 stroke. I am sure that played into OLD man Mediate and his ability to keep up and got more exhausted waiting. Even when the extended holes- Tiger slow paced even getting to the 1st tee. Brilliant strategy though. Many ppl never saw what he was doing.. I did lol. Rocco got slow cooked.

Remember exactly where I was for this playoff. I was doing some construction work at a graveyard. Because the playoff was held in a Monday, we sat in the break room and watched the entire playoff, instead of working. Great times! Hard to believe we had to wait 11 years to see him win again

I Watched every minute of this tournament and this was my take away.Rocco was amazed that he had finished in a tie with Tiger and since this was his chance for fame and respect he was going to do his best to win and to his credit he did just that. I think that Tigers injury prevented him from playing his best golf. Both scenarios contributed to a very exciting match. I Think Rocco came away with a big paycheck and a lot of respect and a great story that he could tell for the remainder of his life

Think about how many people would have won majors if it wasn’t for Tiger
@dorothygale11048 ай бұрын
Tiger had the career that Phil Mickenson would have otherwise had if Tiger never existed. Phil was already established as the #2 ranked player in the world with 10 Tour wins over 5 sesons prior to Woods turning pro in late-1996. Michelson won an additional 35 Tour events (45 total Tour wins) and 6 Majors after Woods turned pro. Even though most of Michelson’s Tour career overlapped Wood’s career, Phil still won 45 Tour events, which places him tied for 8th for most Tour wins and is tied for 12th for most Major wins with 6 Majors. It must be a hard pill to swallow having to live with “what might have been” had a kid named Tiger not come along and put Phil’s Hall of Fame 45-win career as an afterthought to the achievements Tiger attained.

18 hole playoff is stupid. It should always be sudden death. They just played 72 damn holes over four days. Being tied after the 72nd hole and all the drama up to that point, everything carries right into the 73rd hol, continues the moment it’s no different if they’re tied after 71 holes, if one of them birdies the last hole and the other one pars they lose on the 72nd hole.

I wonder why no one ever tried to copy Rocco's swing. He out drove tiger on multiple occasions and looked smooth and effortless (not injury prone like Tiger's swing). But I guess it lacks the cool factor, or sales/marketing factor. You gotta make golf look cool and athletic to make people buy new clubs. Why did people copy Tiger’s swing and not Rocco’s? Because it was cool and marketable? Are you kidding me with that? Don’t accuse humans of being stupid and superficial just because you are. If don’t like being human that’s your problem, not the rest of ours.
