GOING BACK TO THE BEGINNINGS OF TRACTOR PULLING!!!! PULLING THE OLD STONE BOAT. A FULL PULL IS 15FT

Ah the old family past time of watching people attach their tractors to immovable objects.
@Just1Spark12 жыл бұрын
I live just down the road and never even heard of this. Would like to watch. Its damn kewl. Looks like it takes MUCH more skill and precision just to move a foot, than modern pulling with a sled. Like guessing the combination to a safe. But once you get the right combination, I bet its pretty sweet.

Good God Amighty! Us JD Men got our Asses handed to us today by them dang Farm-alls and smooth cranking Internationals (were those 4 cylinder monsters?). I figure only the *JD* *Model* *720* Dude towards the video end had a decent "pulling plan" and power plant (even though he went less than 2 feet). I almost cried watching this because I was a child in 1964 and thought my Grandpa'a powerful JD A (handcrankstarter) was the greatest tractor on the dang planet! As an L.A. Designer (who admires The Late Great JD Stylist Henry Dreyfuss), what would happen if we use a thicker treaded rear tire with the treads "spaced" out a bit. I'd even suggest "grinding down" every other V-Shaped Tread. I've seen Motocross Bikes, set up like this when racing in mud or mountain Hill Climbin'! Could Work Here!

damn I'm boring I could sit out in a the field drinking beer and watch this all day

It's nice seeing real tractors pulling instead of a bunch of modified junk
@duanedean647011 жыл бұрын
A full pull is 15 feet? Nobody is making it pass the previous dug holes. So what is the point other then to see who can get stuck in another guys holes and spin out.
@gregberry700011 жыл бұрын
this is the way tractor pulling is suppose to be. if I wanted to see drag racing I would go to the race track instead of to a tractor pull I pull in the se kind of pulls here in KY and love it. get to play all night usually.

Not to mention they are running way too much air in the tires. You gotta let them wrinkle! I wish I had video from the pulls we had when I was a teenager. You didn't see anyone looking at their spinning tires with the engine wide open and never touching a brake, that's for sure!

Im watching MotoGP and this video simultaneously and its a toss up which is more interesting. The torque and gearing combine to make these old tractors very very powerful tools, more so than what I would have thought. Braaap
@wb616211 жыл бұрын
NO END to the torque of those old JD's.
@farkfamilyfarm13 жыл бұрын
I know in the heavier classes they have weight hung everywhere on the tractor like 40,000 lbs. worth. I'd hate to throw all that weight. I don't like putting on 1000 to weigh up for the next class. If thats your thing then go for it.

This is why it costs so much to grow corn, soybeans, wheat and feed people in America. When farmers have nothing better to do between planting and harvest they do shit like this, add up the cost and pass it on to the consumer at the end of the year when they write it off their taxes and ask for subsidy money the next year.
@barman88200712 жыл бұрын
i see why we pull sleds now

Its not about speed, its about torque. marvel at the engineering not the pizazz
@BLTPAlegopulling11 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but how does this require more driving skill than pulling a transfer sled? all you do is spin out! with the transfer sled, you still have to weight your tractor correctly and there are weight limits. this seems pointless as none of them actually go anywhere!

I've never seen a dead weight pull in person. Do they repair the ground and somehow pack it back down between pulls ? Looks like everyone has traction problems - the ground can't handle the torque... Great video just like all your others - thanks for editing and posting it. -Jace :)
@american_patriot17763 жыл бұрын
Yes they do, i pull at them.
@TheKySharpshooter11 жыл бұрын
I can't believe they aren't lugging the engine and working the brakes more! I used to do this on an old Farmall M.
@DesertDigger112 жыл бұрын
No suitcase weights?? WTF? This was a great video but would have been a lot fairer on a properly prepared packed track instead of a soggy soybean field,everything has its limitations whether it be red or green.I would have liked to see something with tracks give it a whirl.
@slimG208212 жыл бұрын
this is how tractor pulling started back in the day more skill is needed to pull a stone boat the a transfer sled and you have to know your tractor and the ground and how to weight the tractor
@darkninetailedfox12 жыл бұрын
dude this is the old day pulling before the sled was invented even that old 826 international didnt get a full pull this is much harder then pulling a sled
@CJPWNSALL11 жыл бұрын
not to hate or anything but if your spinning and are not moving anywhere dont keep fucking digging down chances are your not gonna start moving again..
@79tazman12 жыл бұрын
Why not hook two tractors together and the one that pulls the other wins it would be more fun then watching them pull dead weight
@st50315 жыл бұрын
once they start digging a hole why do they just keep digging it ive never seen it in person either but i couldnt watch that all day
@TeaBagsForDays12 жыл бұрын
Well that's just personal preference, I quite enjoyed the video, and watched all ten minutes and fifty four seconds of it. .
@noshsreqd14 жыл бұрын
Jeez, why not take off a few stones so someone could actually go 15 feet?
@DairyFarmer81412 жыл бұрын
If your gonna move that sld, you are gonna have to snap (or pop) the clutch to jerk it so it will start to move.
@pipus444413 жыл бұрын
haha the secret is tire pressure, the lower the better , those who manage a actual pull had very low tire pressure

i pull a transfer sled and i agree this is harder, harder to balance harder to judge balance etc. we have this around my area and i have first hand experience on how much more difficult it is than a speed pull and it is great to see the old john deeres, farmalls, internationals, and oliver out there having a good time
