After Greg played, Kenny's face was like deeeaaamn I got fucked up!

I loved SRV, he was probably the greatest blues player ever. Yes, I'm a wanna be as far a wanting to be a better player. He did inspire a lot of players, but there will never be another SRV. I just think there are too many that TRY to copy him exactly. I'm 64, been playing since 11, since 15 in bar bands in joints to jazz bands, done several 1000 gigs. But I don't claim to be a expert. I do have some insight. Still it's all a matter of opinion. I have a life, thanks. Regards,

Poor Kenny had no idea what he was in for taking the stage with this Beast. The kid just got a lesson in originality and humility. He looks so awkward. Greg is truly one of the finest ever to wield a Fender product.

Great performance. Mr. Koch rules the kingdom of guitar slinging wackiness!

That's the best solo by Koch I've seen yet. He's even better when he's not goofing off.

Malford Milligan is such an awesome singer! He played this song with Eric Johnson on the Alien Love Child album. Fabulous material!
@Blues7113 жыл бұрын
Poor Kenny is right! When you step on stage with Greg Koch, you had better bring your A-game. I've seen Greg play many times and he is a very nice fellow off stage too. I swear he could be a comedian in another life. Asked his son once if his dad acted the same way at home and Dylan replied, "Yep, my dad is exactly the same there as he is on stage." In the words of Joe Bonamassa introducing Greg, "one of the finest guitar players I know!" I'd say that's pretty High Praise. :)

For the record that's Malford Milligan(Storyville) On vocal's. Great playing by both Koch & KWS...Nice!

Oh, by the way, the fellow singing is Malford Milligan who was with the band Storyville for many years. You should check out their music if you never heard it.

You should have heard their version of "Stuck in Folsom Prison." It was a wacky Greg Koch feast! The whole hour was ridiculous. Hopefully Fender will post the whole thing soon.
@Bryantkh1314 жыл бұрын
the thing is, its not just the notes he plays, its the tube screamer tone and the KWS he uses on the strap, very similar to SRV.

I have a mexican strat and other than the pickups it's just as good as an american (and I wouldn't keep the american pickups either though, gotta have Dimarzios). The Squire vintage vibe (like that bass) are surprisingly amazing considering their price (and brand name). The teles are pine (like the first Teles).
@mikedegroff776610 жыл бұрын
IMHO, Malford's voice and energy make him the perfect foil for Greg's in your face style! And hey Kenny tries! If someone put me on stage with a sasquatch like Koch I'd probably look pretty pitiful as well...

@jmanxoom9 жыл бұрын
Kenny work on your rhythm guitar, he just stood there holding his guitar while Greg played his part in the song. If anyone out there sees this video who is trying to learn to play guitar. Don't be a KWS one trick pony.
@boozoochavis75066 жыл бұрын
Maybe all this hullaballoo is because Koch didn't get a record deal or huge adulation at such a young age - he paid his dues coming up the old school way!! Makes a much more well rounded player out of a person, then they can hang with anybody anywhere and at any time. There were a few lessons learned this night, that much is for certain!

Wow, kenny can't swing AT ALL! Same old worn out blues box, stiff white boy playing. Very basic, novice playing, scare to get out of the blues box.
@fulltonesmusic9 жыл бұрын
SuperHotrod4 Yeah, he's basically constrained himself to being another Stevie Ray clone, & with some luck & marketability parlayed it into a career. I'm sure Koch probably secretly got a kick out of showing him what creativity is in guitar playing. I'm not into competitions, but yeah, that was probably very humbling for him. ;-)
@klank672 жыл бұрын
The problem with KWS is that he's never done anything original. There's a million guys that can out-play him. GK however, is a demon!
@knightfall93942 жыл бұрын
a lot of blues guys aren’t original, they all do shit thats been done before or sounds derivative of something else. I saw kenny open for van halen in 2015 and he was great and put on one hell of a show, id say he had a edge over van halen just because roth ruined their set with his bullshit
@emdblues10 ай бұрын
@@knightfall9394Kenny is a class musician and he's had a great career, also started really young. But there's always someone better and this night he had to play with Greg who is a monster player. Greg even outplayed Bonamassa when he stepped in one time on a couple of songs. He's just bad ass, as is Kenny but in a different way :)
