One of the last times Alabama was an underdog
@chriswebster244 жыл бұрын
Only been a dog once since this game, at Georgia in 2015, after losing to Ole Miss for the 2nd straight year. That’s when they said the dynasty was dead. Then the Tide blew out the dawgs and never looked back, winning the national championship against Clemson.They didn’t lose again until the Clemson rematch a year later. To this day, that game in Athens is the only time they’ve been underdogs since this upset against Tebow. The last time the Tide lost a game as underdogs was a year before, in the ‘08 SEC Championship. Roll Tide!

The official moment where the dynasty began. This was Alabama’s biggest hurdle to overcome. Florida had been the top dog for about 4 years and Tebow was arguably the greatest college football player of all time. Up until this game, everyone questioned was Bama really back and if they had what it took to beat a team like Florida. And they did.

Then Alabama went and slapped around Texas in the national championship to further prove that they were indeed back.

How about the win over Colorado in 2007 in the Bowl Game - people never give that 2007 team any credit - that team loss 6 games but all 6 losses were by 7 points or less - overtime loss to Georgia, Iron Bowl came down to a onside kick, Florida State game came down to a onside kick also - that team was very close to going 11-2 or better - but that was the foundation of this dynasty (that tuff, gritty, never say die 2007 team) - please do your research - all of the momentum heading into 2008 was off of that 2007 team - 🏆🐘🏈 Roll Tide

@mkb44487 ай бұрын
Florida was not a dynasty. They had two good seasons both of which ended in NCs and deserve credit for that. They lost 4 games the season in between those championships though. At a maximum 2 loses might propel them into dynasty talk, but a four loss season doesn't happen in a dynasty. I would also argue that Alabama didn't start their Dynasty until 2011 as the 2010 team lost 3 games. Saban would never again lose 3 games in a season after 2010.

How many significant games has Alabama been a part of in college football history? I'm watching a lot of videos of past Alabama games and it seems that they have almost been involved in many significant games without end. I watched a game recently on KZbin in which the Tide beat USC in LA from I think from the 1977 season. That was an excellent video of seeing the great Bear Bryant on the sidelines. He coached a bit before I was even aware of college football. He was definitely one of the greatest. I saw him on the sidelines applauding his players from that game despite his defense giving up a TD. He loved his players. I watched the famous goal line stand against PSU from one of the #1 vs #2 championships. I recently watched the thrashing they gave my favorite team, the 'Canes from the 1993 Sugar Bowl. And this game and many others. I have to applaud Alabama fans, they truly have something special. I'll try to find more big Alabama games.

The year before when Bama lost to Florida in the SECCG in the last, what....10 Mins of the game after being up ? Not seeing my Crimson Tide winning a NC since I was 3/4 (and yes I still remember watching the game with my dad in brother while we lived in Alaska cause my dad was stationed there) this was such a great win. Even after winning the NC this year and the consecutive #1 ranked recruiting classes that we were bringing in i still could not ever imagine that we’d create the greatest dynasty in college football history especially considering we had the second greatest dynasty ever when Bear was the coach as he won 6 NC’s at Bama as well. So yes, one of the greatest wins still in our past decade of dominance. I would put this game higher than the ND NC game if it weren’t for the fact we beat a blue blood that gave us fits during the 60s/70s. Bama has beaten blue bloods Texas, ND, and Ohio St now and some folks consider Clemson to be a blue blood as well cause their 1981 NC and the success they’ve had lately. Also beating LSU and UGA for NC’s as LSU is not a main rival (Bama has won 9 out the last 10 against them) and UGA, which I’m sure they hate us but they aren’t our rivals and believe me when I say we hate auburn, Tenn, LSU, Texas AM and even Florida (because of the 90’s SECCG’s) more than UGA. They sure do hate us tho. lol. I’d like to beat Clemson once more so we’d have a winning % over them in the playoffs as it’s tied now but I’d love if USC could get into a NC game against us so we could beat another blue blood. Or a Michigan/Penn St/ Florida St/ Nebraska. I would’ve said Miami as well but we beat them for a NC in ‘92. Roll Tide!

Back when Bama had a kicker that could actually make a FG

Will Reichard has become the greatest kicker in Bama history at least

Carzy to think if Tebow commits to Shula and Bama this never happens. Nick would have either wound up at Miami (the only big college job open in 2007) or waited a year and went to Nebraska or Michigan. Thank god for Tebow

Who's to say that would have changed anything. Tebow wouldn't have necessarily started in 06 Shula's last year

Florida really lacked a good RB and WR playmaker this game. Won the year before without Percy but Alabama improved too much the following year to repeat.
