Here is my new to me 2009 Smart Fortwo Brabus hardtop. It needs a head gasket so I remove the engine/trans. Follow along for the rebuild. Please consider supporting the channel on Patreon / carysgarage Carysgarage@gmail.com

I also see your friend removed the AC compressor and let it hang, that saves both of you a ton of headache from not needing to have the hvac system evacuated to remove the engine! would've liked to have known this on my first go around with this car!

Yes it was so much easier not having to add on doing Full evac and recharge on the system. huge lifesaver

you were zooming on this one...no time wasted! gawd...i'm always amazed how tiny these are...nice that it basically fits in the walkway between the bench and the bentley. hopefully the fix isn't expensive.

Yeah I want to get this one going. The other half is going to use it as a commuter around here. And it is so nice it's so small. Very convenient!

in the future if you do this again, its easier to leave the wheels on,, with the car on the ground, loosen them, then (assuming everything is disconnected and neutral), start jacking up the body off the cradle, and everything comes out in one piece. I'm on my second engine replacement and it doesn't get easier with repetition.

Since I had to pull this engine back out and just out right replace it, I did leave the wheels on and it was so much easier on the second go around

Nice Brabus you got there, some work to come. I don't see intercooler and some parts, are you going to use original brabus parts or some upgrades?
@CarysGarage2 жыл бұрын
I'm going to leave it all original. Yes no intercooler, it is a non turbo US version with the Mitsubishi 1000CC engine, I wish it was the turbo.
