I build xv250 bobbers. Get yourself west end eagle drag pipes or larish 41. The xv250 factory pipes have a dumby pipe that isn't actually connected to the head. It reroutes under the bike to the second pipe. Its just for looks so changing the factory pipes is a huge improvement.

As always really good information. I never knew there was a directional link. Have‘nt worked with on one since I was a kid. How soon will you be changing the oil again? She’s gonna have a great bike. Take care
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
Well, she didn't even put enough miles on it for an oil change this season. This little Yammy is going up for sale this spring. I'll be modifying the bigger bike I mentioned in the video and adding an outrigger style trike conversion kit very soon.

Thank you for this video. I bought a used 2015 version a couple of weeks ago and it’s been running good so far. I know nothing about motorcycle maintenance though, so I’m learning a bit here for sure. What are some other things I should check on my bike just in case?
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
It's easiest for me to say check everything. I mean every nut and bolt, especially suspension and brakes. Things do shake loose, and you don't always get a second chance on a motorcycle. Keep up on regular maintenance as outlined in a good service manual at the recommended service intervals and you should be good to go! Thanks for watching!

Wow, cool trick with the impact driver !!!! Never used one, does wacking a normal screwdriver do the exact same thing? Or is there something else going on with that ?
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
The impact driver actually turns when you whack it. Pushes the bit into the screw and turns at the same time.

nice rack 😂 Great vid brother, just buying a '07 one of these tomorrow so this was helpful on refreshing my memory. Any tips for new riders on what to ask about the bike before buying? I haven't ridden in 2 years so I would appreciate any info! Bless

Usually smaller bikes like these were used by beginners. Check for clutch wear/slip in 4th and 5th at wide open to see if it slips. Other than that, these are pretty bulletproof bikes.

How do I adjust my throttle? I have the exact same bike. Please help me because my bike is idle up real high. I know about the copper raider adjuster screw, but they seem as though it has to do with my throttle lines.
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
If your throttle cables are 100% moving freely, then you adjust the screw on the left side of the carb that looks like this one... www.nichecycle.com/ncs/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/98744ae651a41bc05bd53b82452786e3/6/0/603-16002a.jpg

@@randomwrenching I have been screwing the throttle cables, and I believe that’s what caused the high idling could you please tell me how to adjust my throttle cables because now my throttle does move a little looser. At first after trying to adjust the cables, it got real tight. Could you please be like Mrs. Doubtfire and say Help is on the way lol. Thank you so much.
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
On a push/pull cable system, the cables have to have just enough slack removed using the barrel adjusters. They should not be pulling tension on the throttle grip at all. I don't have a video showing this base cable adjustment yet unfortunately.

I would've drained the engine oil a second time... In fact I never allow my engine oil to get dark, so I change it every 500 miles.
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
That's a little extreme, but you'll always have good oil in there...
