Pohang Steelers are a South Korean football club based in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do. They were originally called POSCO, after the Pohang Iron and Steel Company that owned it, the club was founded in 1973 and is one of Korean football's most successful sides.
FC Bunyodkor (Uzbek: Bunyodkor, Uzbek Cyrillic: Бунёдкор; Russian: Бунёдкор) is an Uzbek football club based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The club finished second in the 2007 Uzbek League season and made the semi-finals of the 2008 AFC Champions League. In August 2008, the club changed its name to Bunyodkor from PFC Kuruvchi to reflect the club's success on the pitch and its increasing professionalism off the pitch.[1]
The relatively unknown club made international headlines when it claimed to be close to signing world-famous Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o,[2][3][4] although he did not sign with them.[5] Just a couple of days after Eto'o's visit to Tashkent, three other players from Barcelona visited the team - Andrés Iniesta and Carles Puyol, and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas.[6] On the 25th of August, 2008, AEK Athens Brazilian superstar Rivaldo announced to the Greek press that he was joining Bunyodkor on a reported $14 million two-year contract.[7]
