I wish I saw this live. I love how experimental and creative the 2008-2015 era of Blue Devils was.

2016 was hella experimental bruh

I have been around drum corps for a very long time, since the mid 1960's, and this is in the top five of favorite all time shows, if not my favorite...Dadaesque is another.

Everytime I go back to this show. I appreciate it even more. What an awesome and boundary pushing show.

I just can't get over how *terrible* the sound characteristics of Lucas Oil stadium are. It's a profound difference from '08 and before, even on the standalone audio recordings. Lucas oil is possibly the worst venue for DCI.

I hope this is a joke.. lmao it sounds amazing
@dctrbrass4 жыл бұрын
I hear that it depends on where you're sitting. I was on the 30 for finals in 2017 and it sounded terrible....esp. with the reverb in the speakers. It was definitely the worst experience I've had at a DCI show. I was SO hyped to go to finals too :( I'm sticking to outdoor shows.
@mmmbetter554 жыл бұрын
Carter Rutherford It objectively does *not* sound amazing. Seriously, listen to the official DCI Finals recordings from the early '00s and then compare to 2009 through now. I'm not making any comment on the corps or the players- they are surely superior across the board to when I marched last in '07. But the echo/reverb and just the soundstage of that stadium is terrible, especially for percussion
@justamaninTN3 жыл бұрын
mmmbetter55 I agree. I marched there for BOA. It’s awful. Watch the drum major or you’re screwed.

I just really hate indoor venues for DCI. I appreciate being able to sit in the A/C without the sun beating down on you, but I've been to shows at Lucas, Mercedes-Benz in Atlanta, the Georgia Dome before it, and the Alamodome in San Antonio, and all of them were massive echo chambers.

I saw this show in Allentown at the semifinals when I was a small child, and I think it's what really made me consider drum corp an amazing art form, For nostalgia's sake though, I wish i could find a recording of the Allentown performance.

Darth Toxicus What? The Cavaliers were robbed that year?? What was taken? Money, instruments? Was anyone hurt? Man that's crazy since BD beat them fair and square on the field.

Been a BD fan all my life. Idk.....never really liked this show. Also, to me this show marked a turning point for the corp. Went from Jazz based type shows to more abstract from this point on. (Minus 2011)
@omariparker3769 Жыл бұрын
2011 was a show that can join the ranks of the classic BD shows. I still kinda like 2010, but 2011 was the last BD show that I really loved.

Hebron actually “stole” it from a BD show in the 80s, if you listen to some of their repetoire across the years you’ll catch quite a few old BD charts. Andy Sealy was a former color guard member there.
