Size wise, Goldikova looked more like a cart pony than a thoroughbred. She was a tiny little thing, but boy could she ever pick em' up and lay em' down when it came to the business end of a race. Besides a wicked turn of foot, also wrapped up in that tiny little frame of hers was a ton of heart and pure class. In 27 career starts she only finished out of the money one time, with a career record of 27-17-6-3, and after her final run in the 2011 BC Mile she was retired to broodmare status with more G1 victories (14) than any horse ever in Europe, male or female. We sadly lost this brilliant racemare at the age of 16, dying in France in 2021. The moral to this story is an old one............sometimes it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but rather the size of the fight in the dog. RIP champion!!
