Hey everyone. I just went through this same exact problem with my Malibu. Turned out to be a bad starter, cost about $115 for a new one at oreillys and took about 45 mins to swap out with some guidance.

It's the shifter when you put it in park it's not engaging the sensor all the way so when it's in park push it hard

The fuse box was definitely the cause of your problem, the white boxes connected to the black one, but but careful fixing it if your a diy, you'll need to either replace the harness the easiest way and recommend or wire some new boxes if you have a pull a part new

The real problem is your transmission solenoid body. I’m an engineer at Chevy. Your solenoids are going bad in your transmission control model

On mine it was the starter got that fixed and it still did it got a new starter relay also the same thing. Turns out it was the fuse box. We had to have the starter relay at a certain angle for it to start

Possible bad connection from battery to starter or ECM. Either on Ground side or power. Or bad ECM because nothing is reading right on your dashboard

One possible cause is the underneath the engine bay fuse box, the box with wire connectors may be burned causing interruption when hot especially on hot days, recommended fix is to get a professional car electrician to wire a new fuse box for the one that's burnt

I’m having this same issue. Mine is at the Chevy dealership as I type this. I replaced the ECM once now they say the issue is the ECM again. We shall see. If it happens again I’ll be replacing the fuse box it self.

Try the fuel pump relay in the trunk also there is a blue piece under your hood by the battery make sure that is plugged in correctly

I have the same problem with my car i have a 2011, If it helps any what i do when that happens is take some tools and un screw one of the plug cables for the battery for about 5 mins then put it back on, when you do it it automatically resets everything and allows your car to start up.. hopefully it helps it works for me.. It should work if when you try to start up the car you see a car and a lock light pop up

I had a similar problem with my 2008 wouldn't start it was completely dead gave it a jump n it hasn't happened again , battery is good but in the cold weather I need a stronger battery.

Electric box in trunk check fat red wire loose fix it get a very small screw driver and twist the wire where it meets in the box and your ready my daughters car same problem I did that

I'm finding out that the relays in these Malibus go bad. I've had my lights stay on, cooling fans stay on, car not start, car not shut off even when I turn off and remove the key.....just stupid!

mikey 2225 I found the problem. It was a bad battery connection. The battery is on 75% but when it does this I just unhook the battery for a few seconds and hook it back up and it works

For everyone having this problem check where the harness plugs into the BCM. There's a connector that breaks and it holds the harness in (BCM is behind radio, passenger side). The GM part # is 88987848, you may have to special order it and it cost about 25 bucks. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself tell your mechanic to check this first, trust me.

@@Yungmcafee mine did this. It was a break in the copper band that runs under the fuse box. I had a mechanic who called around and was told how to split it apart and soldered it. Been working fine 2 yrs now.

YES, my 2012 Malibu LT is doing the EXACT same thing, for some time now. I generally get a jump, but this time, no help. This is in Intermittent problem every so often. Generally in the mornings, but never during the day. I always had the impression that it was due to the headlights stayed on after driving in the evening, cause it does not start up in the morning. DONT THINK SO NOW. In fact, I have seen what seems to be, the computer in the car, gets all confused... LOW TIRE LIGHT ON, no gas, etc. But when it starts and runs, I have no problems. Someone told me, that it is the starter, just as the post by Jesus Morales said, "ITS YOUR STARTER". Of course, I am a computer tech, not a CAR TECH, so I will go about checking my starter, and see what the results are on this. THX PEOPLE.

@@killerdad7616 it would not be a starter issue. That is an electrical issue. Battery, ECM, voltage throttle. It's literally the definition of haywire.

I did I used a can of coke and a metal scrub brush and scrubbed all the corrosion off my battery . AFTER I replaced my alternator $250 . Didn’t even see all the corrosion cause my batter cover . But I fixed my alternator cause I thought that’s what’s was wrong . The day after I fixed the alternator it started going crazy again and then I used the Coca Cola now it’s been workin good since the day I posted that comment . Smh 🤦🏻‍♀️ fuckin Chevy .

Car Nation OK so five months ago when this happened I replaced my alternator that did not work because a few days went by and it started doing all the lights the gauges were going up and down again .Sometime as I’m driving it will start actin up and then not fully accelerate so I have to pull over shut it off turn my key on and off a few times and then it will start up and all the lights disappear It sounds like a recall to me because it’s weird that your video is identical to what my car does and I have a video of it too wish I could put it in the comments

Yungmcafee your ECM isn't reading the system right you need to reprogram the ECM and then your car should start up like normal

Need some help for My CHEVY MALIBU 2008. I had it parked over 2 months already. When I turn the car to start it won’t start it does some clicking sounds but nothing. I bought a new battery and it started took it for a drive then I turned it OFF turn it back ON and did the same clicking sounds. After couple minutes it turned ON but it turned it OFF tried to turn it back ON couple of times and didn’t turn ON. Car messed up when the weather was really cold but after that won’t start. Any suggestions? The stereo and dashboard lights turn ON but it won’t start anymore have a new battery as well. Some people say it’s the anti theft or I’ve been ready it’s the fuse box the one inside from the car.

@@johnienichols8182 found out that it was the black terminal it wasn’t passing power too the battery for my car. Had too cut the black wire terminal and get some more black wire out it was rusted and no good. Now the car turns ON perfectly fine 🙂

@@Yungmcafee I just bought a new one for mine today and it threw off the power steering and esc so I ran to AutoZone for one of those 80amp fuses that go on the top of you're fuse box screwed in and it's driving great. My breaklights used to be stuck on and the new battery fixed that. Now I just keep driving to drive it around to see if it will shut off on me again, the fuse definitely fixed the power steering tho it Cost like 4.99

Slow down when starting your car who starts there car that fast bro 🤣. Let the car cpu have time to the read resistance in the key fob. Notice on the left side of your dash your security light is on that means car didnt read the correct resistance from the resistor in you key. Maybe an issue where you just need to have the key programmed. Since the problem is intermittenting. But its along the line of your car security hope this helps

Reprogram you’re key 1 sec bump starter leave key on for 10 min then turn off repeat steps 3 times then the fourth start up start the car

Nahh just get hands on and fix it yourself, get a OBDII reader and check what you got, if you rely on mechanics you will suffer for shure,I’ve been having my 2008 for 7 years with 253k miles on it and still doing good, of course you have to fix any little problem that comes along, I’ just replaced head gaskets,timing chain and valve covers myself and I’m not even a mechanic, if I can do it, you can, unless you want to keep buying car after car and be giving away your money to dealerships

Nope. Replaced both negative and positive battery cable with terminals. Power steering motor suddenly decides to turn left or right and stays locked while driving, so replaced unit. Radio keeps switching to Aux from FM when braking. Driver seat has play in it(slides back and forward) when breaking or accelerating. Replaced upper/lower control arms, outer and inner tierods, sway Bar/end links and bushings from dealer but still have loud banging and clanking noises when going over bumps just received a thumping bill.. interior lights.... even a 1980's car has a option, on/door/off for interior Cabin lights .. either I haven't figured out how to keep lights off when the doors are opened or they just forgot to add it..
