It gives me chills to think of how much Jr. looked like his daddy driving through there

I've probably watched this a dozen times since last week, and it still hasn't gotten old. Way to go, McMurray!!

To see Dale Earnhardt Jr. slice and dice through the pack on the last lap almost brings tears to my eyes, looked just liked his Daddy!
@mecusimawesome11 жыл бұрын
On the last lap of the 500, there is nothing more dangerous than a hard charging Earnhardt. 10th to 2nd in less than 2 laps? Jr's still got it!

So was I. I was a little ticked Jeff Gordon didn't do better, but Jamie deserved a break. It's just too bad 2010 wasn't a more consistent year for him, 'cause he won 3 big races that year.

This was my 1st and favorite Daytona 500 that I went to. Other than the 2 pothole delays, the race was awesome! The crowd went nuts on that last lap when Jr almost won but I was happy for McMurry especially when I saw him kneel down on the grass. I love seeing athletes who are truly passionate their sport win. Nothing better than seeing them cry tears of joy in the interviews when they win.

I remember this finish very well: in some ways it reimnded me of the 2007 Daytona 500, where Kevin Harvick beat Mark Martin to the finish by mere inches. Dale Jr. would finish second for the millionth time in his career, and although he did win the 2004 Daytona 500, it wouldn't be until 2014 when he scored his second and final Daytona 500 win.

I remember staying up till past 3-4AM UK time here, having to listen to the race on headphones as my folks had long gone to bed, and I got chills seeing Jamie Mac win it. Ive never been a fan of his at all, but he's a great dude, underrated driver, and it was fantastic to see him snatch it, and it was an epic 500, after the monstrous delays, and to finish like this, was amazing.

I've noticed a pattern with the Daytona 500 since 2006: 2006- Johnson 2007: Harvick 2008 Newman 2009: Kenseth 2010 McMurray All are FIRST-TIME Daytona 500 winners. I hope the trend continues in 2011, like Mark Martin finally breaking through.

Doesn't matter to me what folks THINK about Dale Junior....He's got more class than most of them out there....simply because he isn't afraid to BE HIMSELF....just like his Dad...He doesn't PRETEND and he doesn't "whine" if things don't go his way like a few of the others do.... CONGRATS TO JAMIE AND DALE JR!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!

@burjkhalifa98 Roush had to get rid of Jamie because of NASCAR's new rule that was going to start after the 2009 season, which was a NASCAR team can only have up to 4 full-time cars/teams. Roush had 5 full-time drivers in the Cup Series, and when he had to get down to 4, Jamie McMurray and the 26 team were the ones to go (mainly because his contract was up at the time).

I loved seeing McMurray win, but had Bowyer gone low to help Biffle, Biffle likely would've won the 500. Either that, or it would've been very close if Jr. had gotten close enough to McMurray to give him a big push on the outside going into 3.

He had a great car but he just ran out of time, he didnt help McMurrary win it, another lap or another turn Jr would of taken the victory but McMurray had a good distance between himself and 2nd place when Jr passed Biffle.

i think that the best racetrack to host the last race of the season is daytona, just think about it, the first and last races of the season at the most historic track of them all, plus because of the unpredictable nature of restrictor plate racing anyone within 150 points of the lead wold be in serious contention for the championship

No actually they don't because running wide open without restrictor plates at superspeedways almost got several fans killed and almost ended NASCAR. If you don't know what I'm talking about look up "Davey Allison Talladega crash". Very few fans today complain about plate racing and if restrictor plates weren't used imagine how much worse Carl Edwards' crash at Talladega would've been.
