Love my 2010 RS as my first bike, I have Cobra pipes on mine as well. The biggest knock on it is that factory Honda seat is very uncomfortable on long rides.

I'm about to get my first bike. It's a 2007 Honda Shadow 600 VLX Deluxe. Found it gathering dust in the warehouse of a local dealership near my work, and it only has 600 miles on it. It needs a new carb, but other than that it's perfect. So once it's done going through service and getting fixed up, I'm taking it. Just wanted to talk about it since I've been watching your videos for a while and it's always nice to see your informative opinion on bikes, especially the types similar to ones I plan to get. Keep it up!

Retro (vintage style) Standard (upright "sit-up-and-beg" position) - both of which are perfect in my world. My back is much more comfortable because I don't slouch and my handling is much more comfortable because my weight is more forward, like snow skiing. I currently have a feet-forward Honda Shadow and it will be replaced by the VT750 RS. Love it!!!!!

I almost bought a newer Honda shadow rs it was just like 2-3 hours from where I lived. I ended up getting a Vulcan 900 custom but the RS shadow was beautiful. Lots of chrome and was red, white, and blue.

All my buddies are jealous they have Suzuki savages and older honda CBS and they love my bike...its pearl white and the tank was custom decaled with the old school honda lettering from like the trail bikes...awesome ride highly recommend this bike to someone who just likes to cruise about 35 to 60 perfect.

Think I've found my first bike! Sadly I'll have to wait a couple more years where my life is more stable to get my license/my first bike, but I know for sure I'm probably getting some kind of Honda Shadow as my first bike! Love Hondas; my first car was a Civic, and I rode Honda dirt bikes as a kid/teen for years. Never had any problems with any of them.

Got my 2010 VT750S last year and I managed to put only 5-600 km on it this far but now it's hibernating. These were my first km on motorbikes (except moto school) so I'm comming from nothin', but I love this this bike. It pulls well until 5th gear, highways speeds up to 100-110km are fine, but it stops pulling hard above. It still accelerates but it's slower. This thing is loud when you start it, it's loud when you stop at a light and it's loud when you ride it. When crossing through small villages I usually go slow or go with low rev. so I'm not being obnoxious. The upright position is great, but you can't squeeze the tank as on a standard naked, so keep that in mind. Leaning seems fine so far, though I've not scraped any pegs yet due to skill and confidence, or lack of it :). On braking, it seems ok I guess; but I've not had any encounter where I had to do an emergency stop; so my opinion shouldn't count right now. As fit goes, I'm 5.6 so nakeds (would have picked an SV650) are a bit too high and cruisers (vulcan classic) are a bit scary big for me at the moment, but the 750s seems to be a great fit. All in all, it is my first bike and I'm loving it so far.

@@TheManowar05 My absolute max speed on the vt750s was 140kmh ~= 87mph on the highway. It gets sluggish in 5th gear at high speeds. It probably does more, but I didn't push it because without a windshield... you become a parachute :)

Sean your videos have me torn between what bikes I want lol. I'm 5'7 a novice rider. I'm not a complete noob I had a 1982 Honda CM450C for about 3 months. My thing is I wanted a Sportster 48 but... The small tank turns me off and I want something my girl and I can ride comfortably. Shes about 5'4 so we're both on the smaller side. Would a Shadow 750 have enough to cruise on the hwy or at higher speeds with us or should I go for a Dyna or something like the V Star 950 or 1100? My dream bike is a Road King. But I want to wait until I have more experience and I can afford a newer one with at leas the 103 Ci.
@seanbutler2291
@seanbutler2291 6 жыл бұрын
dre5491 the 103ci is barely an upgrade. Bigger engine but way heavier so the power is similar feeling.....look up the honda magna 750 gen 3 its a 750cc engine, but its a v4 not vtwin so its power is impressive and sounds better than any harley, i always say its an anybody bike, its fun whether your advanced or a complete noob, its very light and amazingly maneuverable. Highly recommend it over a shadow, and over any harley, that 750 v4 will smoke the 48 including all bikes you mentioned, and all the current harleys made with the m8 motor. The only one that could have beaten it was the vrod/nightrod. And its gone now. Their are quite a few for sale here in florida, you can get one with really low miles and lots of extras for less than 3k. Honda v4s are almost expected to hit 200k miles if properly maintained.

Old comment but still relevant. I've got a 750 Aero and that thing has no bother riding with pillion and luggage. Obviously it won't pull as hard, but I've had mine sat at 80mph in those conditions and it had no problem accelerating up to 90. For reference both me and the pillion have similar stats: 5'1" and 90-95kg.

I have a 2003 Honda Shadow ACE 750. From 2004 forward this classic style with big fenders has been referred to as the 750 Areo. That same year they introduced shaft drive in all 750 Shadows. Around these year models you will also find the Shadow Sprit with smaller fenders and a speedo mounted on the handlebars like the RS in the video. The stopped making the Sprit around 2012 or 2013. The RS in the video was made between 2010-2013 and has a higher seating position 29” compared to 25.9” on all other 750 Shadows. Sort of a half cafe half cruiser bike. 2010 was the year that Honda made all 750 Shadows fuel injected. That same year they introduced the Shadow Phantom 750 a bike they still are making along with the Shadow Aero 750. That’s you options if you want a new bike. However, even with the price of a new one only at 8K before tax and registration. I would suggest you get a used one. You can find a low mileage used one for under 5K and it’s basically the same bike. I would suggest you get one made from 2010 onward because you will get shaft drive and fuel injection which equals less maintenance and slightly better fuel mileage than my carbureted bike, about 56mpg. Engines on these bikes are the same. The differences are in the styling. You can upgrade with some aftermarket pipes, you may also want to add a aftermarket air intake. If you do this talk to your local Honda dealership about it, because the fuel injection will need to be adjusted with a command control for it to run optimally. If it’s a carbureted bike it will require rejecting the carburetor. If you get a used bike, some of these things may have already been done. They give you more acceleration and top speed, but with a drop of a few mpg in fuel economy. If you just go with pipes you can get away without the other mods. If you do air intake and outtake (exhaust) you have changed they way your engine runs and need all mods mentioned.

Check out the 9-3-2018 article at Motorcyclist Magazine online by Seth Richards for best bikes for shorter riders. Most are also good for beginners because it is easier to put your feet down, just not super high powered like the Ducati Diavel. I highly recommend borrowing or renting a slow dirt bike for a few days first, also many states let you take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation 2 day class for beginners, and they loan you a bike. If you pass the class they count it as the road test for your state motorcycle license. I rode dirt bikes from 8 to 15 years old, then started with a 650cc on the street with a top speed of 105 mph, but it was hard to see going that fast from so much eyeball vibration .
