removal of an inverter in a 2010 Prius, make sure to remove safety plug and allow more than 4 hours, for voltage to dissipate . the removal is the base for several jobs like HV trans, and engine removal etc.

Great video!!! I replaced my 2010 Prius 1.8l engine. This does not need to be removed to get engine out. 8-10 hr swap. Torque Plate between engine and transmission needs to be clean or new junk yard engine will slam. Test before reassembling fully. Just essential parts of engine. Great video though as I wondered what was under that. thanks

if you can find a 2010-2014 Prius, it could have a extended warranty of 15 years on this part shown in the video. Just make sure that the vehicle had the 2014 recall, which they basically inspected the converter/inverter(IMP), which extended the warranty on that one part, by 15 years from original year. I just had a 2011 one go out I just bought 4 months ago, and found LUCKILY, info on this. It's called the Enhanced Warranty ZE3. The vehicle had to have the 2014 recall done by Toyota, and I had to have full coverage, which I did. They just replaced it for 100% free, and gave me a rental. You can check for the recall by the dealer by CarFax, or go to the Toyota website and type in the vehicles ID number. It will show what hasn't been done, as far as recalls. If a dealer cannot show you this, or doesn't want to...pass. Go somewhere else.

All I need to do is the trans mount and it supposedly calls for 8 or 9 hrs so I’m trying to figure out if I can get away with not removing the whole powertrain for this one mount bcuz I only have access to the transmission R&R procedure to go off of. But I knew I would have to remove the invertor either way so this video was extremely helpful! Thank You!!

When checking for voltage the left wire harness is DC from the battery and the middle and right wires are A/C. So for anyone doing this at home, make sure your multimeter is on the correct setting.

hi thanks for the tutorial, is 8 wire horness bolts longer than other inverter bolts? just replaced my old one with new from a local store and i'm so confused about bolt locations, also replaced inverter water pump that was very hard job, only water pump left that has to be replaced on my gen 3, seems to be pretty easy.

Hello again ... greetings when changing the inverter, do you have to program? It has to be the same part number ... example my car is 2007 do I fit a 2008 Prius?

this is my advice, ask the dealer for a paper estimate of the inverter, now you have the part number, the try to find the part number on the front side or left side of the inverter, the car has to start after you clear the codes that you create during the replacement, and the only way to know if it need reprogram is if you pay the dealer to scanned.

Awesome video! Arrived here because I have to replace the inverter of my Prius 3G. Also, this model has many different part numbers for the Inverter; mine is the G9200-47180 with letter A in the labbel, but I cannot find this concrete one... do you know if I can simply use any other G9200-xxxxx Inverter from a Prius 3G or even a Corolla/Auris or Lexus CT200h? Or I must use EXACTLY the same part number? Thank you for the video!

Is the IPM inside the inverter like the one you took out... I have a salvaged 2010 that has the P0A94 code dealer wants $2500 to replace the IPM. Now I need to do this myself, is the procedure to change the IPM?

Jennifer Rogerson hi, you have the code Poa94, when the dealer found scan the vehicle and found that code, also found another piece of information call (information code) a 3 digits number that tell us the specifics of the problem, also we use that number to select the parts that we need to repair the inverter. Important . That is a recall, safety recall, even if the car has a savage title, the dealer has to honored , there is a possibility that they did it already. if you remove the center support and radiator,also you may have to remove the 3 bolts for the inverter and a wiring bracket bolt to lift the inverter just a little.

the part of empty the capacitors, yes remove the plug and wait for 4 hours or more do not reconnect the orange plug until you completely sure the the job is complete. the other part is similar.

No you don’t have to, remove the wiper arms, the wiper motor and the cowl, IMPORTANT, bleed will be really difficult, without the proper scanner.

there is too many codes, is easier if you tell me what you got, also thre is is an information code, that would be the key for the replacement. for example POA94 detail code 554.

Right now my 2013 Prius's all dash lights are on including the red ones also "Check Hybrid System" on. I got code POA80 "replace hybrid battery" from car's DTC then I just measured the voltage of all 28 cells each is above 8.2v. I got a new 12v battery too. 🧐 Next I'll test the inverter/converter and inverter coolant pump. It'll be helpful if you have other suggestions. Car engine doesn't start and "Ready" is always off
