Is your truck equipped with Bose? I clicked the link to the GM31 but on Amazon it doesn’t mention anything about with or without Bose. Thanks for the video, definitely helping me decide on the radio upgrade for our suburban.
@vivogarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes, my truck does have the Bose option. I went to crutchfield.com and got a list of items needed for install. They have an easy to use tool that helps find all of the parts. I found the parts cheaper on Amazon at the time.

How did you set up steering wheel controls? i have the exact same stuff you have but i don’t know where the steering wheels output wires go.
@vivogarage Жыл бұрын
The steering wheel controls are done through this www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009P8A044/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 it gets installed in between the stereo and the factory wire harness.

Where did you get the Carbon Fiber trim kit ? It looks extremely nice.
@vivogarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The trim kit came with the truck and believe it's something included with the GFX trim package. I have also seen others take all the trim off and wrap it in a high-quality vinyl wrap. I am thinking about doing that myself to deepen the carbon fiber look. If I do, I will be sure to film it! Thanks for the comment!

Did u use the stock radio side brackets to install it to screw the 4 bolt ?
@danmorales7067 Жыл бұрын
How did u fit the user interface and all the wires behind the radio. I can’t imagine fitting everything in. I have same radio and a 2011 suburban.
@vivogarage Жыл бұрын
I didn’t find it difficult to fit it all back there. I put the interface as far back as it would go that took up the least amount of room. It was the length of the cables for the USB that it made it some what challenging. What are your thoughts on the radio?
@jamesparker54622 жыл бұрын
I am going to install a Kenwood from Crutchfield in my 2011 Silverado 2500. They do not think the factory camera (in the mirror) will produce a clear pic and recommend a camera on the license plate, which means running a cable from the rear to the radio. Did you have the same setup?
@vivogarage2 жыл бұрын
I kept the factory backup camera in the mirror and do not have this on my Kenwood. I did not want to use a different camera for the backup since I have a factory one in place. I wish the factory camera was on a larger screen and was more clear though. I was going to look into something that allowed me to use the factory camera and connect to the Kenwood. I think that would be best.

Does your steering wheel control allow you to pick up and hang up calls? Mine only allows me to give voice control demands and volume and source just not picking up and hanging up

is there an option to use the factory mic? I have a 2013 silverado 1500 ltz.
@vivogarage Жыл бұрын
I believe it will work with the factory mic but I chose to not use it as the sound quality in my factory mid is not good. People would complain about to much road noise. I don’t hear that with the mic I installed.

I have 2012 chevy silverado and can't get the steering wheel controls to work. How do I program it correctly? I have it on #7 radio setting and have pressed the program button twice to put the rp5-gm31 into aftermarket mode. I press the controls in steering wheel and the controller will blink when pressed but none of the controls will do anything to the stereo. It is just an stereo off of amazon.

My directions say to hit volume up at heart rate speed until led turns green. So try resetting module and turn key to on position with reset module and press volume up with heart rate speed until led turns green.

Thanks for the links I've been looking everywhere and haven't been able to find exact fits but I have a question did you need an antenna adapter was it in a kit?
@vivogarage3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I did need the antenna adapter and it came in the kit with the radio replacement PAC RP5-GM31. I am finding that I do not get good radio reception so I am thinking that I do not have a good connection. I will be working on a follow up video soon and it will also include a review and things I missed in the installation.

did you have to splice in your factory sub?
@vivogarage3 жыл бұрын
No, I didn't need to splice into anything. The PAC RP5-GM31 unit retains all factory wiring and uses all factory speakers including the factory subwoofer if its equipped. Definitely worth the extra money!
