Your instructions were great! I used the KYB Strut Plus replacements and bought new sway bar links. We fought two of the sway bar nuts off before getting out the grinder and cutting the others off, as they were going to be replaced anyway. I really don't know how you would do this job without an air compressor and air tools. Thank goodness we had them. Those big bolts on the struts really took a lot of force before they let go. And thank goodness I had my 17yo grandson to help me, this is not a one-man job for an old guy.

TIP put a jack under the new strut to hold it while you tighten the studs. TIL those studs you are tightening control the camber of your wheel.

Thank you Jim for taking the time to think about doing the video, recording the video then editing the video, all takes a lot of time and patience. I had to take out the front sway bars on my wife's 2009 Honda CR-V and it wasn't a simple walk in the park. I had to use MAP GAS (yellow tank) to put some heat on the bottom nuts and was much easier to remove them. You also need to be care full about the anti-lock wire on the caliper, you break that line and your talking $700 to replace it, so be careful. Didn't see you torqueing down the nuts and bolts on the job, as that is pretty important.

I usually just cut the sway bar link off. I had to do it on my 4runner as well when I replaced them. Cut off wheel or reciprocating saw works.

Just did my fronts earlier this week. I found it easier to just cut the links off with a grinder. I used KYB Strut Plus units. I'm curious how those Detroit axle units ride. I'll be doing the rears later this week. Great video!

Why are you replacing the rear struts? My highlander 2012 bounce 2 o 3 times at slopes in the highway.does it solve the problem? Did you replace rear ones? What about kyb struts?

I used FCS from Rock Auto. Will report back in a few months on how they work. Supposedly have lifetime warranty

This is why Toyota is trying to charge me $1700 to replace a $10 control arm bushing and $900 to rec front struts...and $1000 rear...

Yep. Firestone wants $2000 to replace all 4 on my pickup.

Hi, Do you recommend this brand ??? how is it holding up?
@jimdandy64723 жыл бұрын
Holding up fine.. I don't want to endorse them, but I think they make OEM parts and have been a cost effective solution for me several times for various suspension parts.

I think you should have showed you putting the struts back in. I'm sure that's where people have a little problem, or the knuckle comes out or the bearings fall out. more of a detail video. lol
