Great battle on one of the greatest tracks in the world. Loved it

There is also a degree of bravery here. Because even if they are not taking risks, they are not going much slower than when those cars were racing for real. And can you imagine crashing in one of those? The same danger as then...
@pit199312 жыл бұрын
The risk is a little bit less mainly because of the track safety features the track has modern barriers multiple run off areas sandpits etc
@sullybiker65202 жыл бұрын
Track safety is miles better though; Great marshalls, medical professionals are all at hand now.
@bird6691 Жыл бұрын
exactly, unless you are someone like me who has innate immortality you could be in real trouble.
@ejsadlt Жыл бұрын
Completely agree, however at what extent was it more dangerous tham this? Track safety in general is a big plus, but i cant wrap my head around on how much harder can this cars be driven in those times.
@Zezezeze69 Жыл бұрын
@@ejsadlt I agree, I really don’t believe drivers back then were pushing the car at 100% all the time. You look at the best drivers of the era, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart etc, they were all known for not taking unnecessary risk.

Highlite of the video was at 9:18 where the other car locks up, gets passed going into the turn and then comes right back on the exit with a very distinct shot across the bow. Great racing! The driver here was a little hesitant at first to go flat at Eau Rouge at first, but he got into it later.

Most rev counters in the 60s were like that, very sticky and flicky. They also had a tell tale needle which stuck at the max revs you had used, so the mechanics could see if you'd exceeded the rev limit you'd been given. 1000cc F3 was probably my favourite ever class. It was full of mature drivers who paid for their racing from their own earnings, not like todays grids of teen-agers fresh out of karting, all paid for by their well heeled fathers. In the 60s many families were reluctant to contribute because racing was so dangerous.

Excellent Video and smooth driving. I enjoyed watching your fight with the other Car who was a bit faster approaching the corners, but overbraking nearly every time. And you outaccelerated him nearly every time out of the corners. Your style is much smoother. Please send more. Regards Harry

I would say he is rather twitchy on the steering and is too heavy on the throttle out of many corners, seen by him oversteering and losing momentum several times throughout the race.

Excellent racing and sounds! Maybe starting the La source a bit more from the left would have helped a little up to the Eau Rouge and Kemmel strait :)
@nicoiturre36 Жыл бұрын
yeah, looks like he had understeer but the real problem was that he wasnt using the whole track to attack the apex properly. It's crucial to get a decent La source and Eau Rouge and then overtake at Kemmel than try to overtake at La source and mess the Kemmel straight. I think you can do Blanchimont at full throttle if you use the whole track too

That was awesome! This is how racing should be. No anti lock brakes, no traction control, no DRS fake overtakes which you are not even allowed to defend against, no downforce but still some slipstreaming. And the mutual respect between racers. I was on the edge of my seat for 15 minutes. And the final sprint to the finish line was the icing on the cake. Did he make it before the line?

It's an old F3 car, not exactly unobtainable. He either owns it himself or the owner has him drive it which for an F3 car is less likely. Very affordable if you have any money at all, nowhere near the value of an F1 car. Example, a completely restored rolling chassis Chevron B17 offered right now for £60K, I've seen them for far less.

Always a good deal of slipstreaming especially on tracks like this.They used the Ford 997 Anglia engine and could pull 10 k. Rather vulnerable in those tight cockpits. At Snetterton on the old circuit you could hear them on the Norwich Straight at full revs with the sound almost pulsing with resonance.

@@Loveitdownunder Thanks for the message. My brother who was 10 years older than me (I am 70 now) used to take me to Snetterton and Brands.
