Seerah 3 (why learn the seerah) what is seerah seerah comes from arabic verb saara yasiiru sira meaning to travel seerah is call seerah because we are followinh his footstep,we are traveling his journey muslim scholars used it to refer to lifetime of prophet s.a.w why study seerah (1)Allah has commanded us to know prophet s.a.w and take he as example لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة (2)the seerah is the number 1 way to increase our love to prophet s.a.w #the sign of loving someone is that you want to know more about them (3)understanding the seerah can make us understand the quran #quran is a complex book,we cannot understand it completely without understanding the context #for example:-surah ad-dhuha (4)the seerah raised our hopes,raised our optimismn,raised our spirit #the study of older generation give us boost of spirit (5)the seerah itself is a miracle from Allah #his life,his success,his preseverance ibnu hazm:- if prophet do not give any other miracle other than his seerah..it would be sufficient #nobody would have thought that a group from arabia with a new religion and knocking up roman empire and destroyed the persian empire (6)seerah raised a proper metadology to revive the idealogy of the ummah (7)see the life and times of the best generation of this world ibnu masud:- Allah looks at the heart of his servant and choose the brightest and purest to be his prophet and the choose the purest and brightest heart and make them his sahabah (8)the seerah brings up knowledge that will defend prophet s.a.w #the early scholars will teaches the seerah like other sciences #they will teaches seerah like they teach quran the study of the seerah is the study of the best,of the best of the best #prophet s.a.w is the best prophet #his time is the best time #his place is the best place where do we study seerah from? Number 1 source:-Quran because quran is reveal during seerah in quran there is reference to each major incidents in the life of prophet s.a.w reasons quran is the best reference (1)speech of Allah (2)the elequonce (quran tell the inward) (3)quran explain the ilm ghaib,no other source tell this #quran is not chronoligally #a lot of time we do not see the reference (seerah and quran go hand in hand) Number 2 source:-Hadith every single hadith is the snapshots of prophet s.a.w Number 3 source:-books specially for seerah the sons of sahabah is the first to write the seerah,one of the is urwah ibn az zubair because he is mahram of aisyah so many narrations from aisyah is from him..Another one is son of uthman ibn affan (abban) they all wrote a booklet (this book does not exist anymore because there is a bigger book so they did not need those book anymore) of seerah until came ibn syihab az zuhri (129) and he wrote one the first treatises. The greatest scholar of seerah is ibn ishak (born 85 Hijrah so he grew up with sahabah's children) and he began writing everything he heard in chronology order, he even went out to other cities where other sahabah go to,but his primary source is always medina.The best thing about Ibn ishak works is that he is recording it with chains of narrators(so it tell us where the story from and judge the authenticity).The book is so big (10-15 vol) that it is difficult to copy and one of his student,Abdul Malik ibn Hisham(213H) realize it is too big so he summarize it and he made it to 4 volumes.So overtime people begin to copy seerah ibn hisham and seerah ibn ishak gone missing. There is one scholar,Dr Hamidullah and he was from india and he went to france and one of expert in orientalism and he discovered many manuscripts in England,France (after colonialism they just purchase and steal) one of them is a partial copy of ibn ishak(1/4) and he edited it and published it and when he compared it he discovered that ibn hisyam just cut of about 1 half,1 third and what did he cut? poems,lineage and other things.So when we read something in ibn Hisyam,we read something about Rasulullah 100 years after his deatg Fourth source:-Books about characteristic There is many syamail one of the most famous is syamail muhammadiah by at tirmizi.Syamail deals with the looks,characteristic of Rasulullah Fifth source:-books of miracles of Rasulullah This books is called Dalail,and from this you can derive the Seerah of Prophet S.A.W, and one of the greatest that have ever been written is Dalail An-Nubuwwah by al-baihaqi (12vol) other sources:-History of sahabah,History of mecca and medina Other sources that have been added:-History of arabia from romans and persian perspective Early seerah The scholars have devided arabs into two broad category (1)extinct arab the earliest civilization that exist in arabian penisula.Quran mentioned some of their stories ad,thamud.They do not have anything to do with modern arab,they called arab because they live in arabian penisular Ibn Khaldun said:-they fled from city of babil when there is a civil war and make their way to arabian penisular what happened to them? some of the was destroyed,some,civil war,some flood (all of them ceased to existed) (2)Arab that remained two category (i)Qahtan:- considered to be father of Arabs,the son called ya'rab and ya'rib and where the arab name comes from,Ya'rab is the first to speak arabic. who is qahtan,where did he traced from majority:-qahtan is one of the descendants going back a number of generation to Prophet nuh's son,sam(the father of semite, semite is group of people who speak a like similar language and similar culture like arabs and jews) The legend had it (there is a hadith but weak) that nuh had three sons.One of them is sam(father of semite) and his brother yafif (father of romans) and another one is ham(father of africans). minority:-Qahtan is descendants of prophet ibrahim weak opinion:-Qahtan is the descendants of prophet Hud #the rajih is that Qahtan is from descendants of sam the qahtani live in the southern part of arabia,and they had kingdoms and civilization(kingdom of saba',ghassanids,aus and kharaj) they are original arabs because they are the one that invents arabic (ii)Adnan Ancestor of prophet s.a.w,and one of descendats of Ismail,Ismail is not from arabia he is from Ur(Iraq) and he is left with his mother Hajar on the barren land that Qahtani does not inhabit and one of the The Qahtani tribes,Jurhum passed by and ismail marries into jurhum (so ismail is not qahtani but he speaks Arabic because of jurhum) and his children is a merging between ibrahim descendant and qahtani and seven and ten generations comes adnan and from him arab springforth(one of them is quraish) Adnani arab is called "arabs that learned arab" because they are not the original one that speaks arabic.Rasulullah is 20th descendants of adnan and Adnani arab became a better in arabic in other arab because they settled in central arabia and other arab will interact with them and they will get all the best part from other arabs and they became more prestigious and eloquent than other arabs

Part 2. His Physical Appearance Allah sent prophets with the most perfect characteristics, inside and out.All of the prophets are handsome, prophet Yusef was given half of all beauty. Some scholars say it means 1/2 of the prophet Muhammad’s sws beauty. Ar Rubuyya Bint Muwawwid son asked her why the prophet sws looked like. She said my dear son if you saw him you would have thought the sun had risen. Yet Kaab Ibn Malik said he was like the moon. Amr Ibn Aas was from the noble just enemies of Islam and he was a leader. He said that nothing was more sweet beloved to me then to stare at the face of the Prophet sws but I couldn’t stare directly at his face out of shame. All of the just enemies of Islam eventually accepted the religion. Anas Ibn Malik - He was seven years old and his mother gifted her son to the prophet sws as a servant. He said the prophet was neither very tall nor very short, he was not very white or not dark, he was a lightish brown color. His hair was not very straight nor very curly. His natural sweat was very sweet. Umm salam and the other wives would collect his sweat in the jar and use it for perfume. They also used it as medicine by putting it in water and drinking it. Bara Ibn Ahzeb said “once I saw him wearing a red cloak it was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. He didn’t have a very flat face nor a very round face. It was over this and he was whitish/reddish tension with large eyes and with the dark black pupils and long eyelashes. He had large joints and didn’t have hair all over his body. He had a fine line of hair from his chest to his navel and he was a fast walker. He turned to face whoever he was talking to him. Between the shoulder blades was a seal The Prohets that looked like a small oval with a different colored hair. Salman Al Farsi accepted Islam because his teacher told him about this sign. He was looking for all the signs of prophethood on the prophet and then when he wanted to see the sign between his shoulder blades The Prophet sws already knew and lowered his shirt. Ali ra Said whenever someone would see him for the first time to stop to look at him for a while. Whoever got to know him loved him. People used to say “I have never seen anyone before him or after him like him.” Jabir “ I looked at the face of the prophet sws and at the full moon and he was wearing the red cloak and he was more beautiful.” Abdullah Ibn Salam The chief Rabbi of the Jews said “ as soon as I saw him I knew he was not a liar just by looking at his face “ His humility, humbleness and simplicity affected the people. He had a small room just a joke. His bed was made of date palm fiber. This is on the seventh and eighth century after digital and he will do most of Arabia. When Omar saw the fibers had left a mark on his back Uma began to cry. Ya Rasul Allah he said, the king of Rome and Persia live lavishly, and you the the prophet of Allah. the prophet said Ya Umar “we are for Junnah not this dunya”. One of his wives felt bad and gave him Her mat and he overslept and missed the night prayer/ tahajjud prayer. He rebuked her so she returned it back to normal. Aisha said “He didn’t eat meat for six weeks, we only had the two dark things aswadayn, dates and dark (dirty) water, In Madinah six months of the year is date season and the other six months there are no dates so it’s a very difficult time. One time the prophet sws was very hungry so he went outside to walk around because of his hunger there he met Umar and Abu Bakr who were doing the same thing. Suddenly a companion named Abu Al Haythem saw them and rushed home and sacrificed his goat to feed them meat and bread. The Prophet sws told Abu Bakr and Umar ‏ثم لا تسألون يوم إذن عن النعيم “you came out hungry and Allah fed you so be thankful Because you will be questioned about it by Allah” He was conscious of Alla the blessings Allah gave him. We eat a meal three times a day but we forget to thank Allah for it ! The prophet sws divided the camels after the battle of Badr. Ali and Abu Lubaba were to share a camel with the prophet sws. They tried to give the camel to the prophet sws. But he said No ! I’m strong as you two and in need of the reward as much as you. Even though he was the leader and a leader deserved it. Anas Ibn Malik lived to be over 100 years old. His mother gifted him as a servant to the prophet and told him to make dua for Anas. The prophet sws asked Allah to give him barakah in Life wealth and progeny. He became very successful in the marketplace and everyone was eager to do business with him. Anas said “I served him and lived with him for ten years. He never scolded he never even said the word uff to me!” One time The Prohet sent Anas an errand to do something but he do some kids playing and began to play with them. Then he felt someone grab his ear. He liked back and saw the Prophet sws smiling down on him. A group of Yahud came and want ted to mock the Messenger of Allah. They said As Saam Alykum- may death be upon you ! While winking at one another and laughing. He replied “Wa alikum ”. Aisha Ra heard this and she was infuriated, from behind the curtain she yelled “ may you be cursed and may Allah cause you to perish! The prophet sws rebuked her and told her gentleness in every situation makes it beautiful. His Bravery In the battle of badr, Ali ra said that when the fighting became severe we would seek refuge around the prophet sws. Another Time there was a huge commotion and the people slowly came out of their house to see what was happening and they already saw the Prophet sws was the first one riding on the horse Abu Tasha without a saddle towards the noise. He had his sword around his neck. He came back and told the people not to worry. He was very generous and little kids approached him to ask him things and he didn’t refused them. One time the prophet sws was wearing a tattered garment and a shahabi asked him for it so he had just put it in An he took it off ang have it to him. The other sahabi were upset and asked the man why did you ask him for it? You knew he wouldn’t refuse ? The companion replied that I want to use it as my kaffan / burial cloth to show his generosity to Allah! Even his jokes he was always very truthful. One time an old woman asked him if she would be in Junnah and he said no! there are no old women in Junnah. She became upset and cried. He told her no because you will be very young inJennuh. Allah says we should bring them forth with a new beginning ! The Prophet sws was on his deathbed. At the same time Aisha got sick and complained about her headache The Prophet joked around and told her it’s OK if you die It will be an honor I will be the one to ghusl and bury you. She smirked and said that’s what you want right, so then you can go to your other wives. He got her to smoke about his coming death.! There was man named Zahid who the prophet sws loved. He was selling merchandise and the prophet sws came and hugged him from behind and said “who will buy this slave from me? (He was a slave of Allah). When Zahid saw it was the prophet sws he relaxed and touched his chest. He told the prophet sws “you not get much for me.” The prophet sws told him “you are very valuable in the eyes of Allah!” He had an immense love for the ummah. Allah said there has come to you a messenger from amongst you. He finds it difficult to bear your burden. He is Rouf- tender, and Rahim - merciful. He has the mercy of a mother for the child. Once the prophet sws was reciting Quran and he came across an ayah about Ibraheem as. Ibraheem as asked Allah “O Allah whom ever follows me then he is of me and whom ever disobeys me then you are most forgiving. He saw the verse about Esa asking Allah, “O Allah if you punish them then it is your right, but if you forgive them then you are Al Aziz Al Hakim. After he read these two verses and thought about his own ummah and said “O Allah my ummah , O Allah my ummah,” And he began to cry thinking about his ummah. Even though Allah knows all he sent Jibreel to ask him why he was crying . He said my Ummah, What will happen to them after I am gone? Allah said tell him that “because of you we will bless your ummah” The greatest indicator of his love for us is that Allah gave every prophet and messenger one wish that he will grant. Some of them used it against their people. Nuh had Allah destroy all of the humans except him And his daughters. Ibraheem made the dua “O Allah make for them a prophet from amongst them”. The prophet sws said I am that dua. Musa made a dua against Pharoh and said O Allah do not guide this person bc of the evil he had committed. Sulaiman made a dua , O Allah give me a dominion/ control that you have given none before me. Allah made the wind subservient to him. So he rode the carpets far and wide. And the Jinn were under his control. And he was able to speak to the animals. ⭐️The Prophet sws said every prophet was granted one wish that will be answered for sure by Allah. Our prophet sws used his dua to ask for his ummah on the day of judgement, and the dua will be “O Allah forgive my entire ummah, anyone that has believed in me” This is why every single Muslim will one day be removed from the fire, even though he may have been a huge sinner. This is bc of the dua that the prophet sws made for us. A man can and asked him when is the hour? And the prophet sws did not Mock him for this silly question so he asked him “ what have you prepared for it? “ the man was silent for a while and said I really don’t have much salah sadakah and siyam but I have a genuine love for Allah and his messengers. The prophet sws said “A man wil be with the one he loves”. The sahabi were very happy to hear this bc they loved the prophet sws. We have to strive to be from those who truly love Allah and his messenger.

There is a hadith (Abu Dawud, 'Kitab as-Sunna 40.4731) in which the physical appearance of 'Muhammad' (as he called himself) is described as "a fat dwarf".

@@IrreverendSister The man who described our prophet muhammad salallahualaihi wassalam in this ahadeeth was Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad. By doing a simple search on wikipedia you will know who Ubaydullah ibn Ziya was. He was an enemy of islam and people always try to degrade those they dislike. This is the complete ahadeeth: Abdus Salam ibn Abu Hazim Abu Talut said: I saw Abu Barzah who came to visit Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad. Then a man named Muslim who was there in the company mentioned it to me. When Ubaydullah saw him, he said: This Muhammad of yours is a dwarf and fat. The old man (i. e. Abu Barzah) understood it. So he said: I did not think that I should remain among people who would make me feel ashamed of the company of Muhammad صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. Thereupon Ubaydullah said: The company of Muhammad صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم is a honour for you, not a disgrace. He added: I called for you to ask about the reservoir. Did you hear the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم mentioning anything about it? Abu Barzah said: Yes, not once, twice, thrice, four times or five times. If anyone believes it, may Allah not supply him with water from it. He then went away angrily.

It is narrated in a Sahih (authentic) Hadees reported by ‘Imarah Bin ‘Umayr that when the head of ‘Ubaydullah Ibn Ziyad along with those of his accomplices was placed down, he went towards them. Suddenly everyone started screaming, ‘It’s come. It’s come.’ He saw that a snake was coming. It slithered above and between all the heads and finally approached the dirty head of Ibn Ziyad. It entered the nostril, stayed for a while and then left. Everyone started screaming again, ‘It’s come, it’s come.’ Same thing happened two or three times. (Sunan-ut-Tirmizi, vol. 5, pp. 431, Hadees 3805) The enemies of the Prophet Muhammad faced painful death. History has witnessed it.
