Awesome. I’ve been looking for rails for the molding all over the internet and came across this video. Ordering now!

Dude talks more about color and everything you don't care about. Would have liked to know part number that works on rail change and video the actual rail installation procedure.

@@carsick309 I just purchased it yesterday, I've been searching all over to find this particular rack. I purchased a Mopar rack based on my car's VIN # which said it would work. But NOPE, I had to return it. This was the first video I saw that had the exact strips on the top of the car the I have. I was pretty happy to know that there is a rack out there that can fit my Jeep. Thanks for posting, I'll figure out how to put it on. If not, I can take it to the dealership.

Thnx 4 video. I also have the black plastic moldings on 2018 Laredo GC w/out aluminum groove rails, Im shocked how you found the right footings?! I only need to carry 18-20pound carbon fiber canoe. Brightlines no longer avail. Thule & Yakima & OEM all want to remove & rebuild factory rails. Any tips where to get the footings you managed to find? Helpful video- a true lesson for millions of we 2016-2021 GC owners.keep em coming! For other GC owners:many Amazon sellers say racks will fit but pls double check your roof rails to be sure regardless of color whether you have the groove w/metal grooves or not before purchases.

I have this exact brightlines rack. Works great but the plastic rails have started to crack… I never put much weight up there and have only used them maybe 10 times (don’t leave them up all year either) from what I can find, the stupid plastic roof rails are like $240 per side as well to replace…
@MrCouchAddict963 жыл бұрын
Have you replaced the roof moulding yet? I replaced mine on both sides and it cost me around $110

Do they advertise that it’s supposed to go with the black plastic one because the ones I see all say it doesn’t fit the black plastic molding. Maybe you can provide a link?

Sure, spray paint or plastidip. Plastidip would rub off depending on what you transport

@carsick309 Жыл бұрын
@bkcellular king I left mine on the whole year though rain and snow. Because of that, it became impossible to make any adjustments to the cross bars. The contact points between feet and bars completely seized and corroded. It was not visible but with this set up you either leave it on forever or take off periodically. Nice option for the money but not long term.

@carsick3093 жыл бұрын
It would hold any box so long as total recommended weight is not over 150lbs. I've done Yakima, Thula, and Inno on that rack.

@@carsick309 did that black molding strip begin to crack at all? I’m not going to tighten it down like crazy but just enough with some loctite. I’m looking to get the Thule motion Xt.
@carsick3093 жыл бұрын
@@mh1art870 No, but I only used this for 1 year. The rack feet are what truly carries the weight. The molding only matters when rack feet are configured to be molding-dependent. That's why OEM calls for factory roof rail upgrade. There are more adjustment options with that configuration. You'll be fine if you don't exceed weight specs.

I know the mounts are permanent, but can u remove the bars when not in use? also what is ur review on them? ever carry kayaks?
@carsick309 Жыл бұрын
You definitely want to remove the bars and feet off season so they don't seize or rust. Great value. Never had kayak on top but had cargo boxes full of skis no problem.

@terrancekey7997 I only did automatic with hand wash backup. There is no reason for these to snap off if installed properly. If they are supposed to be load bearing then them being ripped off by standard car wash would not make sense. Not saying other people's experiences didn't happen but just trying to think logically.
