@76carmel I'll tell you what; this base engine is more than enough for most people. I'm sure the turbo is great here but it's probably overkill.

In 2014 I bought my first BMW. It was the X3 28i with the Technology package. It was a brand new car. I traded up from my 2004 Infiniti G35. I wanted to love the X3, but it was not a good experience. First problem was the engine light kept coming on. I fought with the service department for 4 years, but they never solved the problem permanently. I finally threatened the lemon law, meaning they would have to take the car back, and suddenly they could fix it! Must have been an expensive fix they did not want to do. Ok, so now that the engine light is off, I wanted to put it in the past, and enjoy my BMW. Then, the skin on the glovebox started to separate from the glove box door frame. WTF. It looked terrible, drooping down like melted plastic. BMW told me the glovebox is considered an accessory, and not covered by warranty. BMW wanted $534 dollars to replace the glovebox. No way!!!!! I looked on the internet and found out lots of people have experienced this problem with the glovebox. So here I am again regretting buying this car. Regretting it because of the problems, and the quality of service provided. On top of that, BMW charges a fortune to service the car. My service experience should have been golden!!!! After 6 years and 8 months, I decided to get rid of this car (only had 70K miles) when another interior element (driver side arm rest) started to deteriorate. I am done with BMW!!!

Too bad they don't sell the 30d in the US. Neighbour has it with M-Sport package, 258 hp and 500 NM of torgue (368 pound foot). I agree with your comments on exterior styling, but the M package makes it a lot better! I also think it's a BIG improvement in comfort and noise inside the cabin. Nice review, greetings from the Netherlands.

Hi, I want to ask about a X3 f25 m packet 11/2012 2.0 diesel with a lot of kilometres about 380.000. The previous owner had made maintain service in a specialized BMW workshop and it costs almost 6.000€ in 28/07/2022.. is it worth to look this kind of car with this kilometres? Is in good price..

Very nice review Steve. After the week with the X3, how did you feel about the ride comfort?

Steve, I feel that you need a driver's liscense, and another liscense to drive a BMW. BMW's transmission looks different, not a true shifter. I'd also get this X3 with the Turbo I-6, but I think it's about $4K if I get the info right.

Gosh it's nice to see the vehicle and not the reviewer in your videos!!! Please keep your same style of review, O.K. So many of the reviews I view on the Internet are of the reviewer and he/she droning on with out really ever seeing the car/SUV/truck!

Great review, just not worth the price unless you have the have the BMW emblem. Are you going to review an X6? I saw one the other day and was looking for a review.

@stevehammes I think that 3.0L I-6 Turbo would better suit the larger X5. And the X5 has the M-series superperformer turbo V-8 with over 400 hp. (You've test driven X6 M before)

Did you come away thinking it was overpriced or worth the money compared to competitors you've also driven (Q5, RX, SRX etc...)?

interior design, especially the seats, needs to be updated, my 2002 535i seats are way more comfy

Does the xDrive 28i have the new 2.0 Liter turbo yet?

@Slimecrazy234 At first I thought it to be overpriced, but as I got to know the vehicle and its offerings I think it's in line with the competition.

Great review! I agree with some of the other comments, for $43,000 the navi should be standard.

Interior of this thing is absolutely horrendous... not sure whether it's because of American suppliers or BMW heavy cost-cutting.

Can this car use regular gas? Or would that literally kill it? xD

MJ4cars97. BMW vehicles always require the good stuff (premium unleaded). It can cause engine knock.

@leoborros Its an overpriced ugly piece of junk. Not to mention that interior is very outdated. I think I'd rather have a Honda Jazz.
