To future buyers: You cannot hose down the interior floor. There are no drain holes/plugs. The water will seep to the sides and in between the legs of the sliding seats area. Rust will build up overtime and eventually rot the floors. Huge misinformation.

This car is the prime example of a working formula. We have a 2003 model, production date from late 2002 and have over 230,000 miles on it with nothing but regular maintenance. It is probably the best car my family has owned, besides our other Honda's. Again, "dated" should be used loosely, especially given that 2003-2007 were prime years for Honda's quality.

@@JimmyVaught A 2010 Honda Accord practically fell into my lap. It has low mileage, driven by the proverbial "Little Old Lady to Church on Sundays." Like the Element, it's bulletproof. I couldn't justify having two vehicles, so I *******sniff******* sold the Element to someone who promised to take good care of it. As far as I know, it's still out there. I briefly entertained the notion of selling the Accord and pouring the money into the Element (rebuild the engine with a little massaging, rebuild the suspension, reupholster the front seats, etc., etc.), but thought better of it. Sometimes, I regret my decision. Issues with the Element: A spring on the pressure plate broke, rendering the clutch useless. I managed to get from Boston to within 10 miles of home (northwest NJ) before a red light knocked me out of the game. That was probably the most major repair I had. I replaced an alternator, a rear axle (broke at very low mileage), a windshield. That's all I can think of.

Just some things to add, as the reviewer didn't seem to know much about the car: 1. the console storage area between the front two seats can detach and be removed. It's also a cooler and yes, you can keep ice in it. 2. The area on the floor where he says the cup holder can pull out in the CRV is actually a subwoofer. 3. The rear seats can be reclined horizontally, can be mounted on the sides and out of the way, and can be fully removed. 4, The cover for the spare tire compartment can come off and be used as a table (legs sold separately.) 5. You can NOT hose out the interior. I mean you can, just like you can hose out any car's interior, you'll just get mold, damage the interior, etc. It is however, easy to wipe down the floor with a wet rag. 6. It's a 4-cylinder, heavy SUV. It has plenty of pep for what it is. 7. Resale value is quite good.

I have a 11 Element. It will be my favorite car of my life, and I keep my cars at least ten years. It is roomy, perfect when you have a kid mess, even really gross onces can be cleaned fast without having to take the car for biohazard detailing (yes, that is a real thing). I am in my 40s and have 2 kids so I am not trying to win a race, but I find it feels solid and fast enough for me, I have hauled an INCREDIBLE amount of stuff including 50 inch tvs and sofas. It has traveled safely in Montreal winters, and has been perfect. I guard it and wish I had an extra. No car will ever feel this big, clean, useful. No carpet stink from snow feet. I do not want my driving experience to feel like sittin in the living room, or I will fall asleep. Speaking of which, one could camp out - if only just in the back yard, so many great things about this car. I had started to get fear of driving after having my old car die in many terrible locations, but I feel so high up and safe I have driven everywhere including nearly NYC> Can you tell I love my Element :)

@giosasso5 жыл бұрын
Critique a car based on what it is, not what it isn't. Not every car needs to be a high performance vehicle. Everyone has different needs and in terms of practicality, and the Element is hard to beat in that department. It's not intended to be a luxury car. So tired of reviewers who think their personal preferences are representative of the needs of others. Quantify what you have to say. Is it well engineered? Is it reliable? Is it comfortable? Use of space? Practical? Will it still run in 10 years? Resale value? Good for dogs? Easy to get in and out? Be thoughtful and consider the target market, which isn't you. Ultimately, I want to know how well-made a vehicle is, will it last over the years, can I rely on it, does it have any engineering flaws (IE. Honda CR-V oil dilution). I'll decide on whether or not I like the overall style of the vehicle. You're entitled to your opinions but if it's a well-made vehicle then don't dismiss it because it's not a high-performance sports car. That's your preference.
@fredmelton6467 жыл бұрын
It's a great car for a niche segment. If you have dogs or kids, it's easy clean up, I use my leaf blower then just wipe it out with soap and water. I'm always surprised by the amount of stuff I can cram into it. He was wrong about the rear seats, they are removable. I take one or both out if I don't need them, reduces the weight and makes space for more stuff. CONS - no thrills drive, mileage could be better, just ugly to some, and the reverse door is sometimes tricky for the rear passengers. PROS - great utility, easy internal care, honda reliability, spacious and just neat looking.

I like your reviews but in a vehicle like the Element, I would have liked it if you put a little information about the seat design in the back and how they can fold and what you can fit in there and stuff and actually demonstrated it and showed it a bit. It's one of the main selling features of a vehicle like the Element so I was little surprised that you didn't really cover that at all other than mentioning that the seats fold up.
@LloydJiraiyaSS10 жыл бұрын
Well the seats are removable actually the easiest I ever had the center Console is a removable ice chest, the ex has a subwoofer right under the radio, it has 35% less throttle restrictions Over the crv,accord, civic meaning it has power at the 1800 band (almost instantly) the awd is the same as the Ridgeline one of the most effective and reliable 4wd system. The sc is only 2wd lower ride height, 18" rims and comes with a full console and carpet with design seats. My girlfriend wanted to drive mine over my extra car lifted avalanche or her sisters mustang v6 (but still sports car) so the younger generation definitely liked it as well. The main reason it didn't make the sales is one reason not enough people drove one and they didn't have enough at car lots. I went to Florida in mine best traveling vehicle ever room and visibility says it all plus the mpg and rubber mats help you jump in after the beach with sand and not have to worry (also water resistant seats)

I have the SC and didn't know all those details. I was confused about this review Because my SC feels like it's riding on rails .. Quite a rediculously sporty ride stock... and I had quick response from beginning as it was already upgraded with cold air intake & gibson exhaust. I could screech the wheels at every traffic light. I treat it like a baby now that I realize the value , And been researching for over a year different compact suv but none give me the interior space and spaciousness that the Element does... I was considering a Nissan Xterra but I just can't let this car go it really is such fun and sporty and utilitarian car just unsurpassed which makes the crv & rav4 look like really feminine girly cars....

I own a 2006 Honda Element. I love it, but their are some things I would change. I don't like the clam shell doors. They aren't very useful in a parking lot when you have people in the back seats. The wind shield wiper settings need to have more settings. That goes for most of the Hondas in the same era. I did notice a couple of errors in your review. #1 The back seats are removable. #2 I would never wash my Element out with a hose. I don't know how that got started, but it isn't true. #3 I actually like hard plastics on the dash and a lot of other places. It is way easier to keep clean. My Honda Element has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. It hauls lots of stuff. It is a tank in the snow. And, it has been very reliable.

I had an 06 Element EXP and only traded in back in 11 for new 2011 Element when I heard they were going to stop making them and still have it. The only thing I did to it was put a new stereo gps in it. I’ll try to hang on to it for as long as I can.

I had 2008 4x4 Element, and it rock, not the fastest car, but for room and parking very nice.

The whole review is negative and he goes on about how it's like a, "typical Honda," but ends the review saying its, "a very unique Honda." ?

We get it..You don't like the car...I hate it when a reviewer gets into a car and says something like "it's dated in here" What exactly do you mean? Or, "the top of the dash is hard touch plastic, and cheap.."..I'm sorry mister reviewer, I was under the impression that this was a Honda element and not a Jaguar...

It's a design flaw in either the A/C compressor or maybe a cooling flaw? Its common in little cars, whenever the humidity is high and its over 90 degrees out, the A/C will blow warm when you come to a stop, it cools up when you are moving, but its frustrating in traffic in the heat, its like I'm driving a an older hybrid when the A/C shuts off with the engine

The Honda Element can’t be washed out with a water. All of your electronics are under the floorboards and you will mess everything up and the plastic will start crumbling if you soak it with water, the car doesn’t come with drains for the water like some jeeps do. Use a wash cloth to wash the floor if you plan on cleaning it

you're not giving a neutral review. Everything in your voice and wording says you hate the car. SO why bother doing a review??

My sister thinks that the Element is a Lego style if only Legos would make a Honda Element as a toy.

Good point 2theredline ... Honda should reimagine the element in a more mainstream way and bring it back. The compact ute segment is ramping up like a freight train now and there seems to be plenty of room for another honda. Look at how many cuvs that hyundai and kia have between them. I don't see them canceling any of those platforms.

No, the Fit competes with the Rio. The Soul competes with the Nissan Cube, Scion XB, and the Suzuki SX4 Hatchback because it's kind of wierd cause of the boxyness. Hope this helps you out! :)

yeah thats so true my dads tsx used to do the same thing! like today its gonna be over 90 degrees and when the car is at a stop it feels like its just blowing air, not cold air

I agree. I dont like cars with more than 6 speeds. I think 7 or 8 speeds is just an overkill and I dont like the idea of a car shifting like 4 times just to get to 40mph. Also, im just used to the sound of a car shifting through 5 gears.

You are probably right, for some reason I thought they limited that to the S/C

Out of the boxy cars, honestly the soul seems like the best option. The xB is outdated with that 4-speed auto and 2.4 engine. The cube is only good if you don't go on the highway. Soul is most livable since it has good power, good fuel economy, and the 6-speed is better than a 4-speed or CVT IMO

Yes! I have seen this. Maybe the Honda Civic lovers feel like if they support it with sales -Giving Honda more Money to make the next better- then the '13 will be back on top.

I use to have a 2005 Element, and loved it. I was hoping they would of came out with a updated version, which was rumored, but went with the HRV which seemed dated right from the start.

You would be surprised of its off road capabilities, sand, dirt, mud, I've done it all in my Element, you forgot to mention by the way. Also forgot about the subwoofer and tweeters which does not make it a "pedestrian" sound system. Also mine has the moonroof in the back, didn't see if this one did or not.
