"We were at Takayama, Shichigahama, Miyagi Ken on Mar 11. After we had tried to rescue our car (unsuccessfully) and looked after some Japanese women who had fled to our house we went to the cliff to see the 2nd tsunami drain back and 3rd tsunami come in, and took this video.
From what I can gather the 1st tsunami was 10 m (15h45), 2nd was 8m (16h14) and the 3rd was 6m (18h14). Between the 2nd and 3rd tsunamis the seabed was exposed to at least 700m where normally there is 4m depth of water so that is how we estimated it as 6m."

It's amazing I don't think most realize SCALE when watching tsunami videos! Your BATH TUB won't fill up inch by inch as fast as this VAST basin does here and in these videos 😱😱😱 I mean when near the end those steps are HUGE... not just one foot step ups. And the water level rise is as if they were only inches in step up height !!! Simply STUNNING view and example even tho there is no MASS DESTRUCTION happening here 👍✌️☮️

Yes, the volume of water that moves out then back in in just a bit over 4 minutes is hard to even conceive of. Plus...the amount of energy expended...all sourced from the energy of the quake.

Notice that snow has just fallen here - this catastrophe occurred while temperature was below freezing, to make the situation even more difficult and dangerous.
