2011 NC Miata Muffler Delete *AMAZING*

After spending countless hours on KZbin searching for mufflers I ended up doing something nobody else on has done. I took it to my local muffler shop. We cut the muffler off and basically made a Y pipe. I kept the original tips. We simply cut them off and welded them back on. In my opinion this is the best sounding NC on KZbin.

Did the same mine with the Y pipe, new header and two performance mid boxes a few years ago. Very happy. It is fairly loud with the top up but not my DD and has awesome pops, bangs on gear changes and gurgles on deceleration... :)

Done. It sounds great. Took 15 minutes, needed 2 blade screw drivers and a 14mm deep well socket. (and my impact)

Update. Got pulled over and handed a warning for how loud it was. Drone was pretty bad above 4k rpm.

Definitely sounds deep and throaty, no drone. I can cruise on the highway no problem. 10/10 sound.

Thats different. You might be too restrictive. Thats 3 resinators. Remember you're working with a 4 cylinder not a V8.

I saw the title and opened the video with the expectation that this was going to sound absolutely awful and I’m surprised.... it actually sounds pretty good. Maybe a bit too raspy when decelerating at high RPMs, but otherwise really good.

Yes this is a totally bone stock 2.0 only mod was that Y pipe muffler. If you do the 2.5L swap, headers are a must! I recommend skunk2 or the Goodwin Racing. You can keep the stock midpipe and do the muffler delete. It'll sound nice!

How much louder than stock? Stock basically makes no noise. This is substantially louder. But only when you're on the gas. This in my opinion sound's much better than the race single. And you don't look silly with 1 exhaust pipe when you should have 2... This all cost me $60 at my local muffler shop.

Sounds great thanks for sharing! I did the ISR muffler delete single pipe. Sounds great but a little too deep if there is such a thing lol. Drone goes away by 3.5K so highway cruising is fine. I think yours is just a little higher pitched having the dual and maybe it eliminates some drone.

Oh yeah mine has absolutely no drone. Just sounds like an aftermarket exhaust. Although when I get a new midpipe I'll be posting it.

Sounds awesome IM-MM I’m looking at getting a Goodwin max power header and helholtz mid pipe, y- pipe and resonated exhaust tips. You think this set-up will sound as good as yours?

The Helholtz Midpipe from my understanding will decrease drone inside the cabin but make the exhaust sound terrible and metallic. In my opinion it makes it sound broken you can find it on KZbin. If I was you I'd skip the midpipe and leave it stock and only do the header and muffler. You're gonna see performance gains with the header and a different exhaust tone. The muffler will obviously make it louder. But I'd save yourself a couple hundred and leave the midpipe alone or if you want something that doesn't drone get the dual resonator midpipe like I have. You can find it on Fab9Tuning it's the Roadster Sport Dual midpipe. If you can't find it click on the one with the catalytic converter and the dual resonator will pop one. Use the money you saved keeping the stock midpipe for a nice muffler. Don't be shy about trying eBay parts they haven't failed me yet or others! And I hear the ISR eBay exhaust sounds and looks great for the money along with other exhausts. Thanks Mike, are you saying stay with Goodwin header and use stock piping all the way back. Then connect to a muffler with duel tips? Thought OEM tube was smaller than 2.5” coming from header? Getting car done soon. 2013 MX5. Getting Ohlins, quaife LSD and exhaust. Like the deep throaty sound like your video. Here’s the links I found. This is from the Goodwin description. In my personal opinion you're better off getting a header for sound and power overall less restrictions and the muffler for sound. From what I know the midpipe doesn't do much.

@@notoriousxp1893 yeah I know the problem. You have too much toe or camber on your front wheels. On the highway your car probably feels really touchy and like you said slippery. Nothing is broken you just need your front end alignment. Should cost $80 for all 4 or $50 for the front. Goodluck
