This is probably my favorite playoff series that the wings didn't win. Was so cool to see them fight back from 3-0 down. Too bad they couldn't finish it off in game 7 though

Yeah this series was a great one! Games 4 and 6 were just absolutely crazy games. If I recall correctly we only lost by one in game 3. A Detroit-Vancouver series would have been awesome

+HockeyTown1340 Pretty sure that in the two series (this one and the year before) 10/12 games were decided by only one goal. This one was two with the empty netter and there was the 7-1 blowout when the Mule caught fire, but otherwise every single game was one goal margin and several went to OT as well. An amazingly close rivalry with some pretty amazing contests.

@@Hotwing04 Yeah as a canucks fan I thought this was the best playoffs for a long time. Idk why these playoffs were so special, but I just liked every arenas atmosphere and just the effort every hockey player put on the arena. Its just beautiful the game of hockey! If I am correct the reason why Detroit cheered this loud because they were in the verge of coming back from a 3 games to 0 series lead, and they were 1 win away from the Conference Finals? As a canucks fan I just did not want to vs Detroit because they earned the badge of "hockeytown" because everyone was skilled. I just hope the canucks and red wings can battle it out one time in the stanley cup finals!:)

There were very nearly two reverse sweeps this playoffs. The Canucks almost lost a 3-0 lead and so did the Sharks.

I remember I went to olive garden the night of game 7 and it is usually informal wear there but that night most of the people in the restaurant were wearing red wings jerseys. I'll never forger it

This time period was the peak of post-lockout hockey. It's fun to see all the skill of today's NHL, but the salary cap has watered things down so much that all teams pretty much look the same, there's no identity, and a lot less physicality. As a Sharks fan, we knew what we were expecting when we matched up against the Wings. Now, I can't really expect anything from any matchup.

Just look at the aggressive pursuit to the puck back then. It was a challenge for teams once entering our zone. Now we play ahl hockey with an ahl coach

This was maybe the most evenly matched playoff series I have ever seen. All 7 games were close and it felt like any game could be won or lost on a weird bounce of the puck.

Geez could the Joe get loud. I will never forget some of the playoff games at the joe, so much of my childhood till a few years ago. The new arena is super nice, I love watching games as the LCA but the Joe, man. I am sure the older folks who remember the Olympia said the samething about the joe.

I never heard the versus broadcast for this game but I think Ken and Mickeys was better (as usual really). I would rank this game as the best Wings playoff game since 2010 for sure! This was a great series too bad we couldn't finish game 7. Thanks again Awood! Keep it up!

Stinks that they Wings aren't in the Western Conference anymore. they had some great rivals there, especially the Avalanche. Also, I'm a Penguins fan and would love to see a Pittsburgh vs Detroit finals again.

@Paul Revere I think they would’ve won more cups if they were in the east but not because of the travel just because the east was a lot worse than the west until Crosby and Ovechkin showed up. Though I guarantee they would’ve at least made a final in 06 or 07 since all 4 series they played were on the west coast.

Refs were helping the sharks this whole series. Some of those blantent cheapshots by the sharks all series went uncalled. Even holmstrom had several goals waived for doing his job and not touching the goalie.

The 2010-2015 Wings were a frustrating team to watch. They would give teams like SJ, TB & Chicago trouble, but they were never good enough to pull through.
