If its coming from the left or right side of the engine, this is most likely your issue.

Yes, the 2011 requires the lifting of the engine as well as the removal of the steel bracket from the manifold on the passenger side. Not difficult, but necessary. Thanks for the video.

I do t understand how you got the covers to lift right out I can’t get them out because there’s not enough wiggle room between the frame you seem to have done It so easily

What year and model car do you own?
@jnepute10 ай бұрын
I'm not 100% sure if you have to do this for this generation of Outback, but for my 2017 Outback, you have to line up the zero mark on the crankshaft to have enough clearance to remove the driver's side valve cover. Check out MrSubaru1387 video on his 2015 Outback. This is what he recommended. Also, be careful on putting TOO much RTV sealant on the gasket. You don't want that squeezing out inside the engine. Just a helpful tip.

I have a 2012 year 2.5 Forester will it be possible to change it as you indicate or do you have to lift the engine ?

The 2011 models yes, but to be honest I'm not exactly sure about the 2012's.

u r amazing to do this work basically one handed, BUT, hand holding the camera makes it shake so much that it is annoying to watch. Perhaps find a way to support the camera. (maybe there's a U tube video on that.) Other than that thank you for showing me how to do this job.
@thediyyardie7192 Жыл бұрын
You're welcome and thanks for the feedback, will definitly work on that.

I don't think you mentioned, but was the oil supposed to be drained?
@thediyyardie7192Ай бұрын
No oil drain is not necessary, but you will need to place a catch pan under the car as you remove the valve covers, there's usually less than a cup full of drainage as the covers are removed..
@JarrydTImeАй бұрын
@thediyyardie7192 thanks for the response. I placed something under but it kept dripping for about 20 minutes so I drained the whole engine. I just tried replacing the valve gasket and it seemed like the part has an extra lip on the block side that isn't there on the stock.
