The difference is XC bros like to ride to the tops of hills, DH bros like to walk. Imagine a 1.5 hour DH race, you'd be watching the riders walk or ride a chairlift for over an hour. haha

Changing the Brain settings depending on the terrain, doesn't that defeat the point of having the brain? Why not just have a "normal" fork and lock it?
