I had an 04' Grizzly. Couldn't wait to sell it because every time we got into water, the belt slipped and slipped until it dried out. I hope Yamaha fixed the drive trane issues.

Puncture resistance is what I need, and traction second. No 2ply tire will last more than five minutes on the rocky trails where I ride. The tire of choice is Bear Claws for price, durability and no flats, and traction. And the bike in the vid is nice, but IRS and EPS are 2 items which are not needed for 95% of the time. Kawasaki builds tough bikes with cvt, difflock, and EBrakingS,but they also use the straight axle swingarm set-up on the 360 and 650.It makes for a sportier ride and great on offcamber.

That's not a drivetrain issue. Water in a Yamaha CVT isn't a common problem. It sounds like maybe the CVT cover gasket was damaged or the cover bolts were tightened unevenly or loose. It's also a good idea to coat the gasket with a thin layer of grease when installing the cover. It's also possible that the CVT drain plug was loose or damaged/missing. I have an '06 Wolverine 450, which is based on an older design, and never had a problem with water in the CVT. Same goes for my '09 Grizzly 550.

The Grizzly 350 4wd does have a differential lock. Not only does the Yamaha website state that it does, but I've looked at one on the showroom floor. It's the smallest 4wd with a diff lock. In fact, Yamaha has more models with diff lock than any other brand.

@THizzle80 also, both of those are the top model with EPS, which is sooooooo worth the extra money if you like going for all day rides on tough terrain on a full size quad

No. It's a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). Instead of stepped transmission ratio changes like a geared automatic or manual transmission, it varies the ratio as-needed between the lowest ratio (the ratio at idle) and the highest ratio (the ratio at top speed). It's more efficient and simpler. It uses a belt that connects a drive pulley and a driven pully. The pullies vary in width. As one gets wider, the other gets narrower, making the belt ride higher in one and lower in the other.

@Mrgmail15 the 400 ho is actually 455cc, it is the engine from the sportsman 450. it does not surprise me that a 455cc machine actually out runs a 421cc one, lol

@77toyota pretty sure the 450s are around 6, I picked up my Grizz 550 last year for 7,200 (but it was from a place going out of business, they actually took the crate off the truck going back to yamaha) and my dad is buying a 2011 700 that he is getting for 8,000 thou with set of ITP rims thrown in for 100 dollars, so with new ITP teracross's, I think the total's gonna be around 8,600 or so for him, but he hunted around for a good deal.

@JaykCovers I dont believe so. the grizzly 350 has Forward Neutral and Reverse, not high and low and park in the transmission. and the grizzly 350 doesn't have differential lock. all in all the grizzly 350 is a fun machine to explore on without getting to serious. atleast i think so.

if you want for utility, for trail rides is the best, kodiak is for working.. all others atv on market are a shit combined to take all those performance in one atv, but they wrong ,yamaha make the atv for a job or a utility man.. its a atv not a buggy
