I'm a huge fan of Manson and I hear very little of him in their music. Yes, Chris and Ricky threw Manson-esque style in some songs, but I really only hear it in the lyricism of songs like AMERICA and The Divine Infection. Manson has a style (at least in my opinion) that is completely his own and no one can accurately replicate it. MIW just wanted to branch out from a lot of the bands in the scene and do something different from the breakdown-chorus-breakdown formula. So they did.

I like to think they "reverse- sold out"... they used metalcore to get big, and then went back on themselves to do what they really wanted to do.. to be honest, it's a genius plan, use a genre that is so popular, and once you have world recognition, change styles...
