I figured it out. You can just put on the parking break and it’s super easy to get that thing off if you pop the spring off the old caliber. Made it so easy to get the old ones off.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It's very helpful for replacing the rear brake caliper. An option to fighting trying to remove the E brake cable from the hole in the bracket is to remove the 2 bolts for the bracket. I just replaced one & the cable was seized from rust in the bracket. Rather than fight it or risk damaging the E brake cable, it was much easier to just unbolt the bracket from the old caliper & bolt the bracket & cable onto the new caliper. Thank you

Don't forget to use high temp brake grease on the appropriate parts of the brake pads, so they slide nicely in the caliper bracket for many miles. Great video!

I use a water bottle with 5/16 clear tubing to bleed brakes. Put clear tubing over bleeder nipple. Crack bleeder open and watch brake fluid go down clear tube watching for air bubbles. When fluid it coming out with no bubbles tighten bleeder. Make sure you have enough fluid in reservoir.

Good video. How picky is that banjo bolt? Does the hole on the side of the bolt have to line up perfectly with the brake line when installing it? Thank you

I couldn't see where the hold actually ended up, but I was pretty sure it lined up. That is part of the reason I went with OEM to make sure everything was threaded correctly.

Do you know torque specs for the bracket bolts?
@DIYGuyUSA2 жыл бұрын
I believe this is correct: 23 N·m (2.3 kgf·m, 17 lbf·ft)
@sarahobrien33792 жыл бұрын
@@DIYGuyUSA I think that's for the slide pins
@DIYGuyUSA2 жыл бұрын
@@sarahobrien3379 Sorry, I misunderstood. The bracket bolts should be: 75 N·m (7.6 kgf·m, 55 lbf·ft)

What are good caliper brands ? Honda civic 2012 ex. My rear seized up. C-tek rotors and akebono pads.
@DIYGuyUSA3 жыл бұрын
I used an OEM Honda caliper for this replacement. I use replacement brands for brake pads, but for the caliper, I felt it was best to go with Honda since it is a critical safety part.

@@DIYGuyUSA what did you pay for it? Was it new or remanufactured ? Also, how did you find its part # ?
@DIYGuyUSA3 жыл бұрын
@@oleopathic I paid a little over $200 for the part and it was new from a Honda Dealership online. The dealership can give you the part number and price if you provide the VIN
