I just installed the 10.1" Joying head unit yesterday in a 2014 Honda CRV EXL with amp/subwoofer, no NAV. I wanted to let everyone know it does work. I let Joying know when I ordered that I had the amp/subwoofer and the harness came with 4 RCA connectors that go to FR, FL, RR, RL connectors on the back of the head unit. I followed everything else in this video install exactly and it turned out great and sounds awesome. I want to thank you for taking the time to create the install video as it will help many do this install. Thanks again.

Also chiming in: I installed the 9" head unit for a 2015 CRV EX recently. I did not need to splice any wires to get both the passenger mirror camera and backup camera working: just worked with the included harness. I replaced the stock GPS unit with the included one, and stuck it to the same metal plate, beneath the upper display. I got 1 out of 2 of the USB ports working in the center console with a toyota USB retention adapter. There were two connectors for USB cables in the stock harness (as far as I know), one green and one grey. The adapter was correct for the gray one, but I haven't found one for the green cable (and I probably won't be pulling the stereo out again to try)

Great video here! So I have something weird going on with the backup camera. This is for a 2015 Honda CRV without navigation. I bought one of those portable carplay units…a Carpuride w701 Pro which has a 2.5mm input for a backup camera that comes with it. They give you a video cable that has a 2.5mm pin on one end, and then your regular yellow RCA pin on the other. I attached this cable to another RCA cable which has the two wires exposed on the one end which I tapped into pins 18 and 19 on the iMid harness. This whole line is plugged into the Carpuride at the 2.5mm input and when I first put the car in reverse, the camera indeed comes on on the Carpuride display in addition to the iMid display. However, when I put the car back in drive or park or neutral, the camera will not go away from the Carpuride display. It does like normal on the iMid display, but not the Carpuride device. It will stay like this too when I start driving around. The only way to get the camera off the Carpuride display is to unplug the cable from the 2.5mm input on the Carpuride device, or to turn the car off and then back on. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? Seems like it might have something to do with the reverse light. Would I maybe have to tap into that wire (pin 14) on the iMid harness as well?
@JackofAllMasterofNone11 ай бұрын
The question is how does that unit get the signal to switch to the backup camera? However it is getting the signal it is not turning off
@Accustiver11 ай бұрын
@@JackofAllMasterofNoneYeah it’s weird. So I know the camera that comes with the unit is supposed to be tapped into the reverse light for its power. The camera will power on when the reverse light comes on, and that feed then goes through the video cable. And then the camera loses power and shuts back off when the reverse light goes off. I figured with the Honda factory camera, it would work similar in that the camera is only being powered when the car is in reverse, and then it’s off when not in reverse. But for whatever reason, something is still keeping that video feed going into the Carpuride display even when the car is not in reverse.
@JackofAllMasterofNone10 ай бұрын
No. The Honda camera gets power whenever the ignition switch is on. There is a separate signal sent to the head unit to tell it it's in reverse.

@Accustiver10 ай бұрын
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Here is exactly what the Carpuride people told me: This may be caused by the car exiting the reverse while the camera is still powered (in the voltage range of the camera operating). The camera has a video message output to the machine, and the machine will automatically switch to rear-view mode. It is recommended that you install a step-down transformer, lower than 9V, or 10V output to see if it can solve the problem.

I just installed a 9” unit into my 2015 Crv EX that had the touch screen in in already but not the navigation. The two things that bother me is that the side camera only comes on of if I press the button to turn on the side camera but not when I hit the right turn signal. Also when I’m cycling through using the Source button o. The steering wheel, it’ll cycle through the cameras also regardless if I’m turn right or if I’m reversing. I’d really like it if everything functioned like before I installed the Joying. The second thing is on the upper Imod screen, there’s a red strip that says Audio Off even though the Joying unit is on in navigation or listening to music through blue tooth.

Can make the camera turn on with turn signal in the factory settings app.

@@JackofAllMasterofNonethanks for replying. I did find that setting in in the Factory menu after typing in the PIN code. I had gone to the Joying website and it had more detailed instructions attached to the same page as the can bus harness for the 14-16 CRVs. Well at least that was solved, now only if I could get my IMid screen to quit saying Audio off all the time.

The built in mic seems too low when I'm on phone calls and I'm thinking of going back to install it. I'm assuming the cable goes from the head unit through the glove box area and somehow up and around the passenger side of front windshield and up to the rear mirror area? Is there any way you can explain a bit more on how you ran the external microphone and cable up to the top? Did you have to pop off any panels or can you just push in the cable into the edges of the panels? The built in mic seems too low when I'm on phone calls and I'm thinking of going back to install it. Didn't removed any panels. Just pull off the rubber door moulding and tuck it behind there and it will expose access to behind the glove box. Very easy

Yes it does as long as it has a data connection. So either via your phone hotspot or a dedicated sim card

Hi, I sent you a message through your website a few days ago and I'd highly appreciate your reply. Thanks a lot in advance and have a good day.

Your email was in the spam folder. The only thing I can think of is you need to have your contacts from your phone uploaded to the Joying head unit. You need to allow this when you first pair the unit. This should make it show the name of the person as long as they are in your contacts. If they aren't, it will just show the number. If you have any problems beyond this you should reach out to the manufacturer for assistance.
