Much easier to do it from the engine bay. No screwdriver required. Also, from the engine bay, you can change the upright filter which you are not changing from the inside. That one also needs to be changed. GL's have three air filters.

Yes after I did what I did then I went and changed the other one . Much easier like u said.

Very helpful video. I’ve changed the air cabin filters through the engine compartment as others have done. But this is one of the few videos that walks through removal of the glove box, which is helpful when trying to access the AC evaporator for cleaning. Thanks for taking time to make the video.

Thank you!! Wow. So much work to change cabin filters. BTW GLE350 has 3 filters two under dash and one under hood at left intake. Gotta change all

Agree with others. These are much easier to replace from the engine bay, no tools required, and you can also replace the dust filter from engine bay side, that you didn't replace here. All THREE filters need to be replaced, not just these 2.

I have one in the engine bay.

All in same chamber. There is a thinner pre-filter, and then 2 thicker air filters sitting side-by-side each other, laying down. Gotta pinch/squish them to remove/install. Do from engine bay side, WAY easier, and can get to all 3 filters. Prefilter is first one you get to, then the 2 side-by-side filters shown in video are behind prefilter. Replace all 3. 2013 W166 ML US Spec.

@@leetompkins880 Hi Lee I took at a look at my 2012 GL 350 I saw the two cabin air filters but I guess this model does not have the third one. I also saw that it had two engine air filters that are a pain the a$$ to replace. My question is does anyone else with a GL 350 have a third air filter by the two cabin air filters? Is mine just missing or did it never come with one? Thanks all.

@@ronaldadams1867 Did ypu access from engine bay? The dust pre filter is on that side. If you access from the glovebox, may be hard to get to it.

If this is how it is done, my Mercedes ig going to die with the original cabin filters. For something that has to be changed regularly, there's has to be an easier way. The dealer would charge you $1K to do this job.
