This Bu has the entry 169 HP 2.4L DOHC 4 Cyl that's paired to a 6 speed auto. Lame HP for a 2.4L engine in a 2012 car. Ought to be making near 200 HP IMO
It's not a bad car & you can definitely see huge improvements over the previous generation Malibu. Up front it's very comfy & the interior is very bright but its too bland of a car or my taste, But still GM falls short with some quality issues & fit/Finish, & sloppily made interior parts. An Interior & Exterior update is in store for 2013 year so hopefully GM has those few shortcoming rectified.

Those plastic shavings are called flash and it looks like someone was using a blade to shave it off instead of a torch which is normal in plastic factories, but it might have been too thick for a torch in which case there was probably some defect with the original mold.

i Notice the Plastic on the Pilliars is Textured to Mimic the Headliner Fabric.i also noticed this in a GMT-900 Silverado. im not sure how many people would notice that. guess it would cost too many cents for them to actually cover the pillars in fabric.

The complete redesigned 2013 is a huge improvement over this car. It rides nicer, is more quiet, and if more comfortable. Plus the styling looks amazing. Im just waiting for the 200 hp 2.5 Ecotec to debut.

Dont worry about the HP it will change next year. you have to remember the engine is old, when it was new it was with par with everything else. Its just like the motor in my grand prix. The 3.8 only made 200 without the S/C. the 3.5 thats in the impala's now make 305hp, But then again its Pushrod vs DOHC so im sure that makes a huge difference.

No, it's not reliable. It constantly breaks down and the lights turn on every here and there, and the repair costs are just a no-no. Pretty safe car overall, just a bad engine. I recommend a Saturn Vue, those are more reliable than a 2010 Malibu.

I definitely think GM is making the right moves going into the future. This car is better than the 08s and most of their new cars are using much better materials. This car is a bit dated. We will have to see who the 2013 is.

The typical consumer car critic. These people will continuously bash on on cars Ford/chevy/toyato dosent matter. But if it dose not meet the same standards as a Rolls Royce its sub par to them. Yet they forget the expense it takes to produce a car of that quality. hence the 2012 chevy volt. a fully tech and interior loaded car that runs in the mid 40,000 range. Then these same people will gripe about the price and it being to expensive.

They're not complex cars. Biggest concern is with the electronically assisted steering wheel. If it's a four-cylinder then it's dealing with the four-speed automatic so that can't be expensive to replace if it ever fail. So long as the car is in good condition then go for it otherwise if there's a lot of broken stuff here and there, avoided like the plague

Summit white with the cocoa/cashmere interior is actually quite stylish in my opinion. Dark/Light Titanium and Ebony/Ebony just look bland to me, and to make it worse is when they have that cheap looking silver trim around the dash in the lower trim levels, the light or dark wood grain really brings it out along with the dark silver in the LTZ models for radio/HVAC controls.
