I got the same problem just had my Kia engine explode at 250 then they replaced it got it back and they hadn’t filled it with Freon after removing the compressor so they refilled it it worked great for a couple months and now it’s blowing hot. Would love and update on whether or not the compressor fixed your issue!

Hey, so I'm just curious. You did not check to see if they actually put oil in the compressor. Did this blow up on you. I've it's been mechanic for 30 years. I've seen where they say that this comes pre-filled and I go to empty it out and there's nothing in the compressor. Is this vehicle actually still blowing cold or to the compressor explode? It's a 50/50. You did a great job though

Hi all. i'm so glad i found this video, its given me some testing options for my 2015 Kia Sportage compressor that's not working. I've been told i need a new compressor but i know for a fact that the mechanic i took it to did not test the ECV. When i asked him to test the ECV he told me that my compressor doesn't have one... i then pointed it out to him and he had ate humble pie!! Before i spend an absolute fortune on a new compressor, and even replacing the ECV is expensive here in SA so i want to test it with the multi meter first. Could you please expand on your explanation of how i go about testing the ECV, what reading am i looking for if its failed and what reading would i see if it's still functioning. I'm an absolute novice at all this so would appreciate an explanation. Thanks

I'm currently working on my neighbors 2013 Rio that had similar readings on the gauge set except I was getting around 150 psi on the high side and around 75-80 on the low from and from what I've seen on here, it's usually the compressor control valve that goes bad rather than the compressor itself. I tested everything else that I thought could be the issue but all checked out okay. I was able to find the control valve by itself for like $25 so i'll be replacing that in hopes that it will save my neighbors a couple hundred on a new compressor. Keeping my fingers crossed! What are your thoughts? Also, too funny that I have the same multi-meter as had in this video and I checked the new valve's resistance against the old one at the same temperature and there was a 1/2 and ohm difference which would be like 60 ma difference on the current draw.

Why you need to know how many oz you put with a scale when the gage shows you in low side the right pressure? Is not the same just put freon until the gage shows you that is in the right amount like 45-50 psi? -- By what I see, there is not answer for people, so mine will never answer as well. sorry.

It was probably just your AC control valve....they go bad. Testing the resistance is a waste of time

I dont see any negativity on this video, KIA is average to low level car , so nothing wrong with saying the true. I own a KIA i know my car is not the greatest for sure. He did a good video , the only thing he did not that good was skipping all the unbolting labor which is very important ,because the hard comes to fight with the freaking bolts
