This is a video project for a class but I decided to share it because it's k-pop related :) I'll also try to get a prettier thumbnail later, but I will unfortunately have to make-do with this one for the time being

as a person who have been through a lot of kpop phase a lot since 2008 i do agree one of the most iconic phase was the debut of BAP in 2012. they were the only "brave" kpop group for brought a social issue into their songs and performances. it is so sad to watch them "shrinked" because of the lack of management from their agency:( but glad they managed to revive right now! and yes ofc 2012 was when Infinite finally getting so much recognition national and worldwide!💛 and how could we forgot about the iconic comeback of TVXQ after years? God i just realized there are so much happening in 2012. yes it is indeed a busy year for kpop, an iconic year ofc. glad i was able to witness every single thing from that year (i was a hardcore kpop stan back then i even followed the journey of exo before debut lol now im just a solo fandom, army)

B.A.P are so underrated you guys. They've been through so much with their shitty company but they overcame this together and they're still a team. They've offered so much in kpop industry and it's shame that they're not as well known nowadays as they used to be. They have a very unique style and they compose/write their own songs. Their lyrics are very meaningful and they also talk about mental illness and such. They're gonna have a comeback soon so please give them much love and support they deserve better

Totally agree with you Grace omg especially about BAP. BAP really has a unique style and they brought in a lot of new kpop fans when they debuted (they actually became the first group I "stanned" lol). They are soo talented so pleeease if anyone doesn't know them, check them out! Great video :) 💕

I really liked this video, it was very informative and interesting! You talked about things I was hoping you would mention, but you also talked about other things I didn't know anything about. I would love to watch over videos like this one! The only thing that happened in 2012 that was relevant for me and that you didn't mention is the debut of VIXX, I guess... but at the time of their debut they weren't iconic yet, so it's completely fine. xD I'll be looking forward to other videos with this format!

THIS! Just...THIS. First of all, thank you so much!! *gives you a solid 3 minute round of applause*. I feel like many things you stated here needed to be said and you're absolutely right, 2012 was one heck of a year for Kpop! What you said about B.A.P seriously touched me, even though you were mainly stating facts, because people nowadays show so much disrespect to them and I guess I'm relieved that there are still others who know their value and how important they were. The saddest part is that the people who show them disrespect are the ones that love their idols who were very and probably most influenced by B.A.P, but of course they're not going to admit that. So once again, thank you sincerely for sharing this. I hope many watch this and learn from it as well as have as much nostalgia as I did from this!

This is so great and says a lot of things I’ve kept in my head for the past few years. I’ve been into kpop for almost a decade now and 2012 was honestly SUCH an iconic year with a lot of amazing songs coming out from my favorite groups (Sherlock from SHINee was my anthem the whole year XD) at the time and a lot of groups who debuted that i followed from their 2012 debut (BAP, VIXX, EXO, etc) - so many of those feelings i had in 2012 still seem so fresh even now 5 years later ... thanks for a wonderfully informative video for those who didn’t get to live that amazing year for kpop like we did

Thank you for making this video, it was interesting and I never took time to search about kpop in general, "old" kpop songs (it's only been 1 year since I listened to BTS and yes they brought me to not hate on kpop anymore, but I was conscious there were not the only huge group, then I started to listen to other groups but i didn't know what happened before I started listening to kpop) so a huge thank you

2012. The year that the world was said to end. Which is why the Kpop industry made good music because they thought it was their final chance to show their talents. I guess pressure does work sometimes :P Also your voice is really relaxing

Amazing video! I started listening to K-pop this summer and it's now all I consume. From being a die-hard A.R.M.Y to watching Produce 101, and The Uni+. Supporting rookie groups in their MakeStar crowdfunding projects and much more. But I always try to go back and learn more about the history of it all, the development of the agencies, and the trends in production style. I learned a lot watching this video and your perspective is on point. Please make more video of this style - no one else does!

To be very honest, I'm a bit sad there is no Super Junior mentioned^^ They were the very first kpop group to hold a solo concert in Europe, and I remember clearly how they were praised for this. Korean medias kept calling them "Hallyu King"~ But nevermind~ Music wise their best years were 2009/2010/2011. Sexy Free and Single in 2012 didn't have that much impact (which I don't understand why, it's a great song!) So yeah I understand.. But I still remain a bit sad ! >< That aside I really liked your video, especially how you started with BAP. I can clearly remember how they kind of turned the kpop world upside down with their debut ! It was so powerful and new and original... I'm sure BAP could have gone very very high if the problems with the agency didn't occur~ But anyway, love BAP people~ All these songs gave me a sudden sense of nostalgia (especially The Chaser for some reason) and except for Gangnam Style, I was never able to get into this song (the overhelming popularity is probably the biggest reason). Anyway, I really liked it (despite no Suju >
@Leegheid7 жыл бұрын
Me! I was like: Now suju comes, no? okay than now! no? How about now? Still no?! Alright, maybe now in the honourable mentions... In my opinion Suju had a very impacting influence in the kpop industry and I'm kinda sad that they are sometimes "forgotten".. Not just in this video particularly, but just in general. They didn't just win "the legends" award (and all their other awards and accomplishments) for nothing this year
@guccitae84167 жыл бұрын
Vhope thing is if they had such a huge impact why are they forgotten? Im just wondering cos even now suju are popular but they’re never mentioned as one of the “legends” of kpop along with other groups.
@dramawhale037 жыл бұрын
I don't know why it's like that.. I remember when they were super popular they tended to be forgotten too (I always felt like they were a bit mistreated >

In 2012 I listened to NOTHING but Kpop. It was my peak Kpop stanning period! I got into Kpop as a 2NE1/BIGBANG stan in 2009 and then an SNSD/SJ fan in 2011 and then started exploring every single group out there (since there weren't a lot at the time) in 2012. 2013 came around and there were way too many debuts and I started losing touch. But here I am, 5 years later. Back!

Shiina Mashiro // I got a 29/30! (96.67%) I got a point off because some parts when I just had the music playing, it was really loud. Rip. It didn’t sound like that on my computer though. I think the audio speakers in the classroom were really good and created more contrast between the softer and louder sounds But I got a really good grade anyway :)
