I own a 2009 6 speed manual and have had absolutely no problems and she drives amazing. Same 2.0L turbo charged engine that's in the Audi .The biggest mistake VW made was discontinuing the 6 speed manual in 2011. It's a whole different driving experience than an automatic, trust me. And...let us not forget, it's the ONLY hardtop convertible IN THE WORLD with a sunroof.

oh wow! well, to each his own but this girl LOVES her 2013 "POS" Lux version and she didn't pay 38K....more like 28K and still getting compliments everywhere I go, especially when I'm putting the top down. I love my media area and could care less about whether the volume button stops or keeps going. I also find that I have plenty of room for my 2 suitcases along with my case of water in the trunk with my top down.

Bottom line: We have an EOS, and WE LOVE IT! Everywhere we go people comment positively about it. Planning on keeping it 2 or 3 years, and trading for a new EOS. Much of what he said is factual.. and TYPICAL for any car of this body style. I really did like the "tolerable by a human's ass" comment. very accurate.

Bought my wife 2012 LUX certified used and now buying myself one I love everything but the creep is a little to strong. The first set of gears from a stop are not very smooth. The interior needs to be tweaked and refined. Seating in back is windier than the front. Don't get me wrong great car. And I'm paying mid to high twenties woohoo winning! There is some cowl shake but it's livable and and there is definitely burnout. It's over priced do to the fact that no one has this period. I think it's definitely a car to consider it does take premium so bare that in mind and it will leave you wanting more I drove this car all summer long before and after giving it to my wife. I have a camry and a jaguar and I want to drive this over them. The turbo is so much fun. Great car highly recommend luv the rain sensing wipers auto dim mirrors heated mirrors and heated seats. My only wish in the summer was cooled seats for the back it gets kinda hot n sweaty. I'm gonna look into doing some modifications...if anyone knows of any in the north east hit me up.

I like Cooley. Tells it like he sees it, straight and entertaining. He missed a couple of points though. This is a sporty 2 door HARDTOP CONVERTIBLE that a 6ft+, 250lb+ person can be totally comfortable in, around town or across the country. Stop right there and think about that one. Name another car that does all that. Go ahead, I'm waiting. If you are set on a sporty convertible, need or want a hardtop, and can't get comfortable in a Miata or an S2000... and can't spend the money for a Vette or baby Benz...this is it. Your choices are down to one. Now add that for all that heavy engineering you are carting around, it's still pretty fun to drive, and it definitely moves when you mash it. NOW add that it gets very respectable gas mileage. It may not be super green, but it ain't gonna hurt you much at the pump, either. It's understated, so the cops don't instantly target you. It has every luxury, bell and whistle anyone could ever want. It has kick ass sound from the factory, so you can dig your tunes with that top down. The seats are designed for people-sized people, not midgets. Since there are (joke) back seats, there is actually room for the only 2 seats that matter to fully recline!!! They even have damn good adjustable lumbar support. And as Cooley mentions so funnily, they have good heat, so you can enjoy that droptop even more on chilly days. In other words, this is a sports car for grownups! It's everything you want, and things you didn't even know you wanted, till it showed you. But did anyone notice when all is said and done, Cooley actually likes everything about the car except the volume knob. LOL. And he loves the roof. So do I. Think I'm gonna buy it, in fact.
@tomwebber93775 жыл бұрын
Great follow up. Most of these types of vehicles are for the average sized person. Nobody over 6' or 200 lbs is ever considered. We're relegated to the very expensive or the insanely mundane (minivan anyone?). I've driven these over the years and enjoyed them very much. They are comfortable and fun. The roof is just icing. When I'm driving this car I don't need to hit 60 in 1/10th of a second. I'm in cruise mode. Slow down for a moment and enjoy what this car is about people.

its 2015 now. Eos well used Eos are like 16000 to 20000..I Still want this car like he said you buy this car for the top
@gent117638 жыл бұрын
I agree about the lack of traffic on the GPS and the reverse camera. I got the base Komfort level and had to add the aftermarket OEM camera installed on my own. But I got the 2015 model with a $4000 rebate as the model was being discontinued by VW. Otherwise, I don't agree about the ride or handling. Other then going over bad roads, it's very comfortable and gives me a smooth ride with a reasonable MPG (I always do 30 to 32 on the highway). Your POS moniker is a bit unfair and extreme.
@FunkyDPL5 жыл бұрын
The Executive trim solves the small screen problem. The DynAudio stereo is usable even at top down interstate speeds. Tire squeal is solved by changing out the stock Pirelli P6s which are junk. My real world mileage is 21.5/28.5. And sorry Cooley, it looks nothing like a Jetta. It is fairly quick, and while not quite as crisp a handler as the Golf, it is close. Plus it is built in Portugal, not Mexico.
@emhezmfe8 жыл бұрын
I own one, and can agree with a lot he says here. The tires spinning on take off is pretty annoying to me, something I noticed right off-- he's spot on there. And it's true-- you buy it for the top down experience and that's pretty much it. I do like the interior as well, I think it looks nice and is comfortable. My advice? Buy it used so you get a good price and enjoy it for what it is-- A convertible with a nice interior, and enough space in the back seat (not the trunk) for two people going on a weekend getaway.

I have had good service out of mine (94k). There are 2 weak points in the engine: Timing chain tensioner, which MUST be upgraded to avoid a catastrophic failure any time after about 75k (VW needs to issue recall on it), and the plasticky water pump, which is unlikely to get you to 100k. Other than that, it's good. 2 important maintenance items outside the usual: Transmission service every 40k miles, and periodic (1~2 years) roof lubrication and alignment.

Terrible effort. POS? Very unprofessional. Nearly 3 minutes complaining about the radio/Nav unit, and all of 30 seconds on the engine? The wheel chirps from a standing start. Usually it's attributed to the DSG. He suggests it might be the weight distribution. Is it or isn't it? Do you know what the WD is in either configuration? Cowl shake. Yeah, its a convertible. Measuring the shake by the mirror vibration? The test is in it's handling, that's where torsional rigidity is important. Fail.
