PSA: Not all blue tooth OBD Readers work on our 500e's. Some of them when plugged in can cause the car to throw codes and illuminate warning lights. I had that happen with my blue tooth reader. (if that happens you may need to go to the dealer to get the lights and codes sorted out, or if you are lucky they will go away if you disconnect the 12v battery) Do as much research on the reader that you can before just plugging in an Ebay bluetooh reader you found on the side of the road. it looks like this guys reader is one of the good ones. but please be careful.

Great series. Much appreciated Sir! Mine readings: 2017 MY 17,700 miles SOH=100% SOH-R=99.22% SOH-C=91.37% I am wondering whether FIAT may have secretly upgraded the battery as I am routinely getting >100miles range, even with AC on in 90F weather with mixed highway/city driving. You can read all kinds of data. As I recall the modules (grouping of cells) were readable. I know this is a few years old, but thought I'd ask in case you're still reading comments here. I noticed in your system status log it reads 72k miles on the odometer, but when you show your dash it's around 48k. I point this out because when I ran AlfaOBD on my Fiat 500e the same inconsistency showed up. My dash reads 19800, but Alpha reads 31529. At first I was very paranoid a previous owner messed with the reading (even though the battery levels are quite good), but saw this happened in your video as well. Any idea what that's about?

I wonder if this would also work on the new 2021 model. Alfaobd doesnt show support for the new 500e, only up to 2019. The software is free but i need to buy an obd2 and manage to get a laptop/android OS to check. I'm using apple devices.

Do you know if there is a tool for reseting faults. I am having a problem with my battery and it keeps trowing a fault of a parasitic loss and shuts the car down
@theevolvingworld5 жыл бұрын
Go to the AlfaOBD web site. It says if you use a OBDlink MX adapter that it adds the ability to clear faults thru the same software. It costs about $80 on amazon. I might buy this myself for my EV conversion project powertrain. Currently, I've never had any faults. I'm not sure which "battery" you are referring to. But, remember there is a 12v & a HV (360v). I've said this many times before: The 12v battery is the weakest link in the whole system. When it get's old & near end of life, it will kill the whole system. Solution is: simply replace the 12v when it needs it. About every 3-4 years OR upgrade to a LiFEpo4 Lithium 12v battery and never worry about it again. See modified #18. Cheers.

Доброго дня. Я просканировал вчера свой Фиат с помощью ELM 327BT. ELM 327BT полностью показал мне состояние HV батареи, как на видео The Evolving World.
@theevolvingworld5 жыл бұрын
Thank You, I am happy you found the video useful. To answer your questions: Yes there are adapters that can be used with the AlfaOBD software to allow further access & reset functions. I would go to the AlfaOBD website and follow the instructions there. It is unclear to me if it's important to note the different percentages for each : SOH, SOH-R, & SOH-C. As long as the numbers stay high. My numbers went up with the last scan I did (1,000 miles later). I will continue to monitor it. As long as you keep it charged between 10-90% or even better yet, closer to 50% (for longer periods of inactivity). You would be doing the best you can to make the battery last as long as possible.

Is there a way to have the car stop charging once it gets to 80%?
@theevolvingworld5 жыл бұрын
Not that I know of. It would be nice to be able to set a specific % to stop at. Only Tesla's from Model S on, allow you to program whatever you want it to stop at. The Roadster & the other Tesla joint cars (RAV 4 EV & B250e) default to 80%. Also, LEAF did 80% on just the first few years. I think Volt did too. There might be some others.
@mattdavis92235 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, these limits are built in. There is a usable battery range to preserve SOH and avoid SOC degradation. (roughly 20% - 80%) So, 100% charge indication is actually only 80% of what that battery cell can actually handle. Now while it can handle more, that does not mean it can do so without degrading the battery. Same goes for discharging.
@georgekren61855 жыл бұрын
I control that by a decision how long to charge. I control that from my iPhone, using (Internet) remote power switch (Smart Plug Mini Outlet AISIRER Wifi Socket ). It is extremely simple.

@@mattdavis9223: If what you've seen is true, then it would seem the data history in this videos scan would show much lower history of times charging at 100% and 90% than it does.
